It’s been quite a month my dear reader and hey, I’ve outlived that gossip account, (so that’s all good). The Observer and our reporters are still going and while there are challenges we continue to try and toe the line to be enough for everyone. We have some really good content coming up, including a lovely thought piece from someone (unexpected) in Hathian who gave me a lot of things to think about. But back to this review… So for September, this month has been quite busy but it’s been often ‘good’ busy. We’ve had a new gossip column start and many more interesting things… although it has to be said that Mayor Boxer is a bit quiet… I wonder if he’ll be back after his last spree with FDH, HPD and HGH…

As you’ll be aware, the ‘Month in Review’ showcases a few of the articles from September that we hope you didn’t miss, but if you did gives you a chance to visit them! For those interested in seeing a digest of some of the top stories, you can checkout our Year in Review for 2023 the January 2024February 20224March 2024April 2024May 2024June 2024July 2024 and August 2024 ‘Months in Review’.

In September 2024 we had 28 main articles published… It was a bit down on August, but that was partly because some of our reporters had disappeared for various reasons (including myself!). Thank you all for your work getting these stories out and once again, thank you (most of you) in Hathian for your stories.

Anyway, here are your Editor’s top three for this month as well as honourable mentions!

Honourable Mentions

The HPD submitted an ‘Officer of the Month’ to the Observer which can be read HERE. We’re not entirely sure if a shopping list of HPDs ‘best’ is in the interest of the officer selected, but it certainly provides a talking point in Hathian.

For this month Vinny Scalaetta, the guy who I think ran the Bayou Air Tours was selected for saving children in a fire. Hmm.

It was a sad day in September when Nina Ferrentino passed in Hathian. Seemingly having a mental crisis she attacked Bryce Canden and despite being given multiple attempts, eventually lost her life after she repeated the assault.

The HPD deemed it self-defence which is saying something when it means a Reject is let go and not sent to the cells.

Our Reporter Tiff went to CUPD and spoke with Captain Hunter down there who keeps the peace among the students. With a spate of recent attacks, both the captain and the dean had gone on record as having a zero tolerance approach to violence.

The interview helped us understand more on a few safety tips and how to ensure time on campus is safe (as much as anywhere can be).

Number 3

Whether it was Chubby Chasing (Picture above), Nato’s hairdo (link above), Carter’s bionic ‘penis’ or more recently accusations that Cornholio (Corbin) was a Pickle-Poker, MIA (‘Masked in Anonymity’) was out there doing their thing.

And we don’t even pay for this… it just comes in, gets some basic fat checking (yes the picture of Elben hasn’t been photoshopped) and away we go. If you’ve not read MIA check out:

NATO…. Elben, Carter & Corbin as three pieces to make you laugh a little in this hard city of ours!

Number 2

The 2024 Hathian Haunt returns after a year break. In 2022 I was so scared I almost fainted. This year promises to be even better. Watch out for our sneak peek ahead of the opening event on the 5th October…

Number 1

While a range of HPD officers have come back to us recently… yes we’re looking at you Carter and you Lee… It was the turn of one of the most senior officers in the force to experience some of the fear that both gangs and HPD can apply to citizens from time to time.

Captured by Hathian Against Corruption (‘HAC’) Krystal went through a number of days of live coverage as part of the Observer’s access to a so-called trial. At the end of the procedures I ended up in Hospital and you’ll have to wait for our article to conclude in early October to find out what really happened… although here’s a little sneak peek in a gallery…

And that was all for September dear readers! As always, catch a reporter in CU, Hathian or Backwaters (we visit as required!) to give us your stories, tips or other information! You can find our profiles here (and it’s not a dating page!)

((Promotion of the Observer and CD happens off-sim as well, so if you can help out feel free to link to your other SL friends. Spread the word, the active stories and see if we can’t generate new role-players or encourage others to return!))
