Increased Rain & Flooding

Meteorologists have reported that precipitation across the Hathian district and surrounding areas has substantially increased as a front moves towards the area along with Hurricane Linda (as it has now been named).

Within Hathian, all citizens are warned away from costal areas and especially those areas prone to flooding. Citizens should continue to follow the advice of emergency services, including HPD, CUPD and the FDH. Social Media from the FDH is providing regular updates and you can also follow the Observer’s Editor on her social media accounts.

Flooding has been reported across coastal areas with strong storm swells. Many roads have significant standing water and drivers must be careful if they venture out. In all cases, do not drive into flood water as depth or the speed of any current is often unknown.

Heavy rain continues to darken the skies even during the day.

Power Problems Continue

The Hathian Grid is now seeing rolling brownouts across much of the area. This is due to downed transmission lines, water ingress in high voltage transformers and significant underinvestment in resilience by the parish. Mayor Boxer, approached for comment was unable to provide guarantees about power restoration or how long citizens might be without power. As in our previous article certain places such as the CU Gym, FDH itself and so forth have resilient supplies, but with fuel shortages accelerating citizens should conserve fuel where possible.

Wildlife Attacks

Across Hathian there have been many reported Gator sightings. Hathian resident and attempted mastermind Zoey (‘Z’) wrote on Twitter:

“…I think I just saw a gator walking down the end of Bourbon street. …I hate this town.”

As well as a sighting in the Gein, the Observer’s Editor Daiyu along with a wide variety of CU Students, and other citizens were surprised by a large alligator on campus which proceeded, after CU Clinic Head Zofia attempted to placate it to bite her severely. It was only due to the intervention of CU ‘Head’ student Buffy, bravery and incredible courage from CUPD Officer Bentley, the Observer’s John and Daiyu and others that greater tragedy didn’t occur.

Zofia, badly bitten and Bentley, crushed, after he attempted to rodeo the Gator were both taken to the makeshift infirmary in the gym with Bentley acknowledged by many as a hero.

With supplies low, it was to be thanked that despite the clinic head herself being injured that others were able to provide emergency treatment.

Further Gators were reported near the Pawn Shop and have also been seen near Bourbon.
