A local businessman and his daughter were found dead in their home outside the city limits today. Police came across the bodies of Stephie Chestnut, 5, and her father Dustin Chestnut, 34, in their four bedroom home. Stephie was discovered on the second floor, tucked into her bed while Dustin was located in the basement, strung up upon a popular weightlifting machine while wear a rubber horse mask.
No ruling has been made in either death, but the assumption given was suffocation and asphyxiation respectively. Chestnut’s other daughter, Lily Chestnut, 15, was not found at the home at the time police entered.
“It’s a shock. They were always quiet neighbors, respectful ones. That poor little girl,” stated neighbor Norma P. Cowher, the woman whom made the call to the police after not seeing any movement from the house for days.
Preliminary reports are that the police are treating the discovery as a murder-suicide, with possible drug influence. It is reported that used heroin needles were located upon further search of the premises. A memorial service for the family has not been set up, awaiting the results of the investigation. Officials could not be reached for further comment on the case.
