I don’t often make the trip out to Laveau these days. It’s a long two hours on bad roads with the ever-present risk that you either meet a HPD cruiser on the way out, or the Laveau Sheriff on the way in. Neither option being that appetising. Still, there I was driving and my dear reader I wasn’t even sure that I wanted to go. Adult entertainment is not my entire cup of tea; sure I’ll cover the CMNF parties in Hathian, or some of the Sorority slutting, but Laveau? It hits different. So why in the end did I accept the invite?
I guess I wanted to poke and prod and see whether some of our past articles were still… relevant. Whether the studio had shed the dark reputation it had and whether some of the names from our archives were still around.
Baba, our former disgraced journalist who had made links between the Serpent’s Den and the Studio… Xena, the now disappeared and probably in the bayou former manager who had got into trouble with just about every gang in Hathian but who had a few years ago been the manager there… and then subsequently, Ael, who also seemed to have sunk somewhere, or at least not be the manager of a porn studio… and yes, had once casted for a marshmallow man porn film.
So that’s the background, and really the truth? I wanted to see if there were those rumoured links to kidnap vans, and missing cheerleaders. Whether there were the markings of this so called Salena on the place, the one another journalist had written about.
What I found shocked me...

Yep, my interview was led with Roland, a guy who gave slightly ‘I’m really trying not to brain a journalist’ vibes during our interview. He was able to explain more about the work he did at the studio, including cam shows and the filming process itself as well as talk about some of the staff there like Jade, Daisy and Rachel. While he said he wasn’t the manager, he did appear to have quite a lot of knowledge about how things worked and talked openly about different content creation systems and earning potential.
I took a look around and I have to say the XXX shop is a rung above, at least in terms of hygienic work. If you want to give off ‘red light district’ vibes you go there. If you want to give of ‘adult content sweat shop’ you go here, replete with plastic sheeting around performance areas for easy ‘disposal’ without cleaning.
Still, the main thrust of what I was after was whether there was any evidence of traffiking or unwilling workers. Jade, Roland and Rachel seemed fine. While a little off-vibes can be excused due to a reporter not paying to see performances (but still recording photos) I didn’t get a total ‘murder’ vibe, nor got any impression there were levels of secret sex dungeons out of sight.
Still, it pays to be careful and while on the surface, it seems that some of the allegations have faded, I was reminded of a previous senior with the LSD who gave me quite a few case files on Wicked Studios. So, what’s the conclusion? If you’re a customer, you can probably… commission to your heart’s content. IF you’re a content creator? Maybe do the video stuff on-demand from home; that’s what OF is for and you don’t need to blur your background for fear of giving off the wicked studio ‘dispose of bodies’ vibes. Still, for the actual movie content it was a little bit more and Roland and Jade demonstrated effectively different BDSM and other equipment while being really body positive (if you didn’t see Jade is hung… hard…)
So, for now… the Observer will close our alerts, leaving worry about the Serpent’s Den and the Studio to the sorority to risk manage. That’s not to say there’s nothing to see here; it’s just that… on the surface and so far as I could see, it was for now, porn. Cocks. Tits and the rest. So Hathian, but with a Laveau twist…
