Well, this is a bit unusal!? Two ‘Months in Review’ in one day? Well… yeah. Call me productive (and other names if you wish!?) but I’ve been doing what I can for Hathian to get you back up-to-date with all the latest things going on… So here we go, you lucky readers you, now it’s the turn of April and what an April it was!

If you didn’t know we do a monthly series, March is HERE and we did a wrap-up of 2024 (which you can read HERE if you didn’t read it at the time).

Due to holidays, staff changes and general issues we weren’t as talkative as normal. Or perhaps (we’d all like to think) you guys stopped fighting and we all just had a month of peace and love? We wrote around 12 main articles and therefore our selection below was a little ‘easier’ in some regards. Do you agree with them? Did you really want your fucking or fighting to make the paper? Well, tough. Make news and then get found out!

Anyway… ‘Get on with it’ right Daiyu? On it… dear reader.

Maybe it was Quiet Because….

Yep, an incident down at a ‘new’ (I am not sure the furnishings in rooms qualify as ‘new’…) motel meant that various HPD officers gave out, but also received a bit of a kicking. When it’s your HPD Inspector and the trusted and beautiful Vanora out of action, then I guess policing (at least the bit addressed at actual criminals) does fall to the wayside a bit. But don’t worry, our next two articles show the ‘other side’ of policing in case you thought the Observer was soft on that…

Visit HPD – Heart Attacks Possible

Yeah, it doesn’t get a bit more ‘opposite’ compared to the first article (where as far as I could tell Taco and Vanora were actually attempting to disrupt criminal activity). In this case, an elderly man recounted the awful threats given to him by officers as he attempted to perform legal aid related to services to clients. His story didn’t have a happy ending – it involved a trip to HGH, but after telling the Observer his side of the story (and getting HPD’s side) we were able to secure an apology and a release of his confiscated positions. Policing… let’s do more of good and less of this ok? Hathian would be so much better (three years and I’m still saying this) if some of us were a little less greedy!

As a bonus, meet Officer Kim Eunji who has a line in stepping on suspects (or citizens). Yep, it was a busy month for weird cop related news.

If, since we published you’ve had any further interactions with Eunji please do let a member of the Observer staff know. Positive or negative, it’s time to ‘Rate that Cop!’

Free Spirits – More Sought

The ‘Free Spirits’ series continued, and while we did lose one interview due to our website downtime, we are still looking for more! So if you want to be like Clivia, or like Dita then please do reach out to the Observer and we’ll get you featured.

It’s nice to end on a slightly more positive note isn’t it dear reader?

Well dear reader, that about concludes the news round-up for April. As always, catch a reporter in CU, Hathian or Backwaters (we visit as required!) to give us your stories, tips or other information! You can find our profiles here and they have been updated recently! Woo!

Please see this link for a chance to join the Observer, get some coaching from me (I make a mean coffee) and perhaps start your journalism career, or even more!

((Promotion of the Observer and CD happens off-sim as well, so if you can help out feel free to link to your other SL friends. Spread the word, the active stories and see if we can’t generate new role-players or encourage others to return!))
