FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hathian, LA 08/24/2024

Hathian Police Department is calling on The Observer to provide balanced and fair reporting in its coverage of local events and issues. Recent articles have raised concerns about the portrayal of certain groups and the Hathian Police Department.

It has come to our attention that The Observer’s coverage of groups such as HAC has, at times, appeared to glamorize their activities. This portrayal can be misleading and may inadvertently contribute to a skewed public perception of these groups.

Conversely, when reporting on actions taken by the Hathian Police Department, The Observer has often adopted a critical tone. While it is essential to hold law enforcement accountable, it is equally important to recognize and report on their efforts to maintain public safety and order.
We urge The Observer to adopt a more balanced approach in its reporting, ensuring that all sides of a story are fairly represented. Accurate and impartial journalism is crucial for an informed and engaged community.
