Self-Interest declaration here readers first though – I’m a consultant at the Hathian Museum & Galleries!
Some readers may remember the Mr and Miss Hathian Contest from 2023 that was hosted in the venue. Since then the museum has been working hard on upgrading and improving the landscaping and other areas in the museum and has also been working on acquiring new content and photographs. Read on for some of the spaces and also details about the ‘Artist in Residence’ they are looking for.
Artist in Residence & Staff Wanted
The museum continues to seek a creative individual to become a live-in curator at the museum. The role which entails consulting on events, displays, creating and displaying art and being a key representative of the museum is open for interview. A successful candidate will be rewarded with living expenses, an apartment in the museum and the license to create a gallery ((150 prim allowance or so)) that represents them and their mood. Expected to promote the museum and look for items to add to the collection, they will work closely with other museum staff ((See Daiyu IC to join as staff)) to promote the collection and manage creating glorious new art.
New Urban Gallery
Alongside our original spaces, a new basement area has been dug out in the courtyard of the museum. This space, comprises a mixed use underground environment which is currently configured with both a large media and AV setup alongside a stage, allowing intimate musical events. A bar with seating is also available in the space and there is a gallery room for display of art, sculpture or other works.
At ground level, a new escalator takes patrons up to an open picnic area and contemplation space with sculptures, water features and trees to allow contemplation of the space.
Artists who wish to display their work are encouraged to submit it and can contact Daiyu Tang ((Faithtang Resident)) with photos, sculptures and other pieces. Any group or individual who wishes to book out the space can also reach out and staff, catering and other events are hosted at a very reasonable price ((oocly free)).
Upgraded Stage & Entertainment
The Hathian Museum main building has received a no expenses spared upgrade to the sound and AV system. Not much is beyond it’s capacity with the museum having been known to break out low powered laser equipped drones for the lighting show. The first event, Mr & Miss Hathian 2023 was hosted with the new setup and the equipment is available to hire for all types of events. We can cover:
- Fashion Shows – we have a catwalk available
- Dance and Music Events
- Exhibitions and cocktail or other formal evenings
Reach out to arrange your event today, we accept outside DJs, and can arrange decoration and theming ((100 – 200 prims)) for events.
Our Original Facilities Enhanced & Our Collection Expands
As always we try and add to the photographic or object collection on a weekly basis. Photos from Hathian, objects from the Bayou and other collections come to the museum. We’ve also spent time enhancing our normal facilities with out Gift Shop and classroom for art and textiles expanded. We look forward to seeing you and hope that you enjoy our range of activities.
