Honestly I agree with your thoughts, anal has never been a particular pleasure of mine. I figure its like most things, it will please someone somewhere. As long as its consensual its not my place to judge.
When it comes to a partner asking for anal I tend to decline, usually they are fine with that too. Occasionally one will be insistant but usually things will end there and then. Its not something that should be pressured onto you. So, to answer your incredibly personal question, vaginal.
