A private plane made an emergency landing at the Lakefront Airport in New Orleans about 2:45 pm on November 8, 2012.
Emergency crews responded as the pilot had radioed the tower reporting mechanical failure. The pilot, Droggan Gurbux sustained minor injuries, while his passenger, Lia Linette was air lifted to East Jefferson General Hospital in New Orleans. Ms. Linette is currently in critical condition, due to head trauma along with a broken shoulder.
Authorities reported the incident to the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
Lia Linette, manager of the movie theatre on Hathian Highway and also a pyschiatrist in Hathian’s General Hospital, will not be expected to return quickly as her injuries are keeping her in critical condition, and she is not expected to resume her positions back for some time, at least not until she is fully recovered.
