Ever find yourself down at Greek Row just a little hungry, thirsty, hot and wanting a nice sweet refreshing beverage? Have you ever wanted to indulge just like the trendsetters do? Miss Viola Liang of the Pi Delta Alpha Sorority has the solution for you down at Rock Hard Boba which will be hosting its End of Summer Picnic+BBQ on Sunday September 6th.
The name at first encounter might not inspire confidence but those young and in the know might be a little more in tune with the ever ephemeral vibe of the location: It’s furniture styled after tentacles and the beautiful Miss Viola Liang, not just a mere poster girl but the current Owner and Manager.
Who is Miss Viola Lang?
“…I manage Rock Hard Boba, and I’m a current student at Columtreal University. I enrolled this past April, and I’m working towards my master’s in Early Childhood Education. I moved to Greek Row from Chicago. I’m California-born, but Chicago is where I got the bulk of my education.”
She has also Joined the Pi Delta Alpha sorority which in its most recent years has become to be known as the ‘influencer’ sorority, a reputation which might have to expand as Miss Liang shows that her own presence isn’t merely limited to reels, stories and timelines, but the campus cuisine. When asked what exactly makes Rock Hard Boba tick, she had this to say,
What is Rock Hard Boba?
“Rock Hard Boba is the campus bubble tea shop here on Greek Row…a local independent shop. I applied for the ownership or management position because I saw great potential in the on-campus location and wanted to take a shot at making it a local hotspot. We offer a variety of refreshing milk tea flavors, hot beverages, and baked goods sourced locally from Berthier St. Bakery in Hathian… Rock Hard Boba has a lineup of monthly specialty flavors planned for 2027, so stay posted.”
With a unique name poking fun at the texture of the iconic Boba Tea, this place remains one of the main stays of campus with a loyal following, with a half a dozen or more students often to be found crowding its tables. While the name sticks to you, don’t expect to find any Rock Hard Boba when you suck through that straw!
But is the Boba really Rock Hard?
“The boba is not, in fact, rock hard. You will find that it is actually quite soft, precisely as it should be. As for whether it can make YOU rock hard? Well, for an additional dollar, we do offer protein versions of all our boba flavors!
I do recommend Rock Hard Boba as a date spot for young guys, gals, and all kinds of pals. It’s a comfortable, low-pressure place to hang out, chat, and have a treat.
Next Weekend on Sunday, September 6th, Miss Viola will be hosting an event, ‘End of Summer Picnic + BBQ’. “All are welcome to attend this chill outdoor gathering! All drinks 50% off, and free burgers and hot dogs while supplies last.”
