All is not well in the world of gang relations

Oh no! Did Bryce walk away from the people who shot him? That’s such a shame. Because it’s entirely normal to stick around people who stab you in the back for a power grab. But he left!? Gee, I mean, whoever saw that coming…?

Tori

Well dear reader, in this town where people rub shoulders (and bodies) against each other (alive or dead) on a fairly frequent basis, it was only a matter of time before some fractures appeared between gangs and not just because of territorial issues or violence, but because of that ‘They Lived Happily Ever After‘ story…

.

.

.

If you believe that, you’re well… probably a fan of Ryder or something – all air and no substance. So let me help you get into it… Plunge forward dear reader!

What we Know

The Observer has it on good grounds that for reasons that will be mentioned a bit below (from different perspectives) that the former Rejects member Bryce Canden was pictured on Twitter (see header image) with the leader of the Yuugen, known terrorist and all round trouble-maker Tori Yamato.

This image didn’t launch a thousand ships, but it probably launched a thousand tweets and if some are to be believed has, or will launch a thousand rounds of Tori and Bryce piercing bullets at some time of the Rejects choosing.

But what caused this? Twitter seemed to indicate some type of dispute between the body of the Rejects, led by as we understand it Donta and Bryce that led Bryce into the ‘protection’ of Tori, and reader… that was before I was then told that Bryce and Tori are related. See? This really is some Shakespeare drama. Or at least not your average cable-TV drama…

Sides to a Story

So, firstly I had to try and get a few questions across to those involved. I wasn’t able to speak with Bryce but I did manage to get a hold of both Tori and a Reject or two and ask them what was going on. Of course, by now, you may have already made your mind up, but at least this will give you different perspective.

I texted Tori first, with the following questions

Firstly, did she respect Bryce. Secondly, does she respect other gang members in general. Thirdly, what about Bryce was specifically worthy of respect and finally, what actually is going on (from her perspective).

Tori: “I respect Bryce for what he used to be to me. He has saved my ass and pulled me out of a lot of bad situations. He had my back for a long time. But in the end he is a Reject and always was a Reject. I cannot forget the things he’s done to me. Or two people I care about. But I got tired of fighting him. It took it’s toll on me. And when I was tired, so was he. He left me alone and I left him alone. I can respect that he did me that one last thing out of respect for our history”

Tori (Cont.): “Yes I respect Camden. You have seen the Bones. How wild and fucking violent they are. It’s like herding cats, yet he does it and they all respect and revere him. You can’t ignore that. People like Zeek and Dale, who are forces all on their own, yet follow? It says a lot about someone. Whatever the man is, Camden a leader. And so I respect him for it. I can barely understand what Andy is saying half the times. She cracks me up though, but she also makes me cringe”

I wondered if she respected everyone, but her next answer via text showed no.

Tori (Cont.): “No, I don’t respect Eamon. He’s like a red headed chihuahua trying to bark the loudest in a pack of dogs. He follows the biggest without considering if they are the smartest.”

So now I wondered what the big issue had been and what had caused Bryce to take off out of the Rejects and lead to all the threats and issues.

Tori: “On New Years we had a part at the Prohibition. Several people there, on neutral territory. We were respecting Z’s rules and just having a few drinks because none of us had anything better to do. Dontavius showed up, and made assumptions. Without a single question asked, he pulled a gun on Bryce and ordered one pulled on me. Then he opened fire and tried to kill Bryce. If I had to guess why, despite whatever bullshit reason Donta gave, it was a power play. With Bryce gone, he steps into the role. Not sure if that’s the reason, but that’s what it came off as. Since why else would you shoot your gang brother without even allowing him to speak for himself?”

I then delicately (kinda) put to Tori the suggestion that Bryce was in fact her brother or other close relation and that in the words of certain people they were doing the Southern Horizontal Tango.

Tori: “As for Bryce being my brother? He’s not. Far fucking from it. But Bryce did had a sister, one who was Japanese as Bryce was adopted. When he betrayed me in the worst way he knew how, I brought up his sister. Pointed out how she died and what he was doing to me. The Rejects seem to have heard him and I call each other Onii-san and Imoto. But they are too dim-witted to understand that they aren’t terms of endearment. They are reminders of pain and betrayal. Neither Bryce nor I will allow each other to forget what we put each other through. Despite that we stopped fighting because there seemed to be no end in sight and we were both exhausted, the names are meant to remind each other of the pain we can inflict on each other if we decide to war again.”

See, the problem for Hathian dear reader is that Tori is a smart terrorist and sociopath. She has the capacity to do things differently to most of the street and that means not only is she sometimes quite scary, but it is harder to discern if everything she says is true or not…

This is it… Respect It.

You know, as I said people will have made their minds up about stuff. But I also saw, when I went to speak to the Rejects something I didn’t expect. Kindness and charity. But should I be surprised? I’ve written about how people protect their own and how justice and prevention in the view of some thinking men is done. Is it that much of a stretch that the Rejects might be sometimes willing to do more for some?

Of course, what goes around comes around and an unnamed member of the Rejects, as I was attempting to ask reasonable questions stated to me:

Reject Member: “Bitch, easy. Tori a fish smelling cunt. Twitter is for pussies behind screens…”

Donta: “Aint no love fo them over here. You see what I told her. I meant that shit too. I know she love da way my OG dick tastes. Cause she shol keep her in her mouf. Rent fuckin free.”

A little more conversation and yes, it very much appeared that while the internal workings of whatever Reject dispute would not be shared with the Observer, they were never-the-less very happy to share that in their view Bryce and Tori were dead people walking. Whether that pans out in Hathian… Who knows…

What Next?

With Bryce not being seen for a little, but Tori still posting away on Twitter it’s not yet clear how this power play, or other ‘issue’ has resolved. But I, and I think you dear reader can be sure… this city bathes in blood and sometimes the bath is refilled. Stay safe.
