The fall semester has started here in CU, with new and returning students bringing back to campus. Unfortunately, the lively atmosphere is dampened by the reports of recent attacks. However, there are also some exciting new developments. CU clinic opens its doors for new management, I met with Dr. Toran to bring to you the man and how he plans to run the clinic in the future.

Dr. Toran’s Resume

Yaden Toran was born in Nottingham, United Kingdom, he was a prodigy child who finished his medical degree at the age of twenty. He finished his residency in a large NHS Hospital in Nottingham. There he concluded his specialization in general surgery and worked until he moved to the USA.

Dr. Toran worked for our very own FDH until he finalized accrediting his degree. He then worked in HGH for a while before the Louisiana medical board gave him the position of clinic director of the medical center in Laveau. And now he has been re-assigned to CU, with the same position. Currently, he also teaches at Columtreal.

The Clinic

I asked Dr. Toran what he hopes to accomplish with the clinic and he provided a detailed account of clinic services which have not changed but now include mental health counseling, which I was rather pleased to learn about.

“I do plan to soon start a survey of what the students and member of faculty might be in need of for the most. This is in relation to the clinic, naturally, and what the clinic can do for them and locally, for the whole area. The clinic remains opens and willing to provide internships for medical professionals of all levels. That has not and will not change. I always feel honored when medical professionals asks to intern with the clinic. I was in Laveau and, similarly, I am here.”

Dr. Yaden Toran, CU Clinic Director

I asked Dr. Toran how the clinic could address the issue of period poverty, which for some in Hathian and Columtreal is a real concern, the clinic does provide free condoms to student but unfortunately did not offer before the absolute essentials of period products. A mishap, that Dr. Toran has promised to look into and remedy when possible.

CU clinic has always been an invaluable institution, not just for campus since its doors were open to those who needed medical assistant in the time our HGH was under-construction. Therefore, I hope this piece would rally the community in Hathian and on Campus to donate and support the clinic. Please refer questions and offerings to Dr. Toran below you will find his email and phone number.

Stay Safe.
