Well readers… We said that there was a risk of heavy rain and I can confirm that our weather data and our colleagues at WKRD are forecasting a storm, named ‘Blanche‘, barrelling down the coast towards Laveau and Hathian.
“Rumor has it a storm is moving quickly down the coast, I think they’re calling her Blanche? Did you prepare well enough this year? Do you even know where to go in the event of a storm? I hear the weather is going to be proper shit. We’ve yet to hear anything from Mayor Bobby Boxer. Stay tuned for further weather updates.”
WKRD (5th August 2024)
With the mayor not having given an update, we decided to doorstep him at his office.
Observer: “Mayor Boxer, last year the Hathian area was heavily impacted by storms. We saw issues with flooding, significant damage and power issues. What have you done this year to prepare us for storm Blanche?”
Mayor Boxer: “Blanche? Mmhhh… I remember her… temper like lightning and could shake it like an earthquake… and floods… oh yes…”
Observer: “… …. …. You’re expecting earthquakes?”
Mayor Boxer: “Oh, no… not at all, it’s a storm, stupid reporter! Ahem, so for this storm, it doesn’t look as serious as last year, but never-say-never. I think citizens should know where to shelter, stock up on the basics and if they are living in low lying areas, make sure they have their swimming costumes. Mud wrestling may also increase in popularity! I remember when the DOMC used to run those events… good times… good times…”
The Observer is aware that shelters are being stocked in Laveau (The Asylum), Columtreal (The gymnasium) and probably a few places in Hathian, like HGH. However, we hope that most citizens, unless they are in low lying areas will be able to get through this storm.
Blanche is expected to make landfall on the 9th August and is expected to lose strength by the 12th August.
