On the 23rd July, the Observer News Van was being driven back to the office when we passed a police incident in the carpark outside the small strip-mall in Hathian. Sensing a story (and smelling smoke and seeing fire) the Observer pulled in to take a closer look.
We saw a young woman attached to some kind of BDSM cross in the car park with a fire behind her. As we arrived an HPD Officer, whom we identified as Officer Ellis (A Cop with so many active threats against him he could write a book) seemed to be desperately trying to cut her loose.
Even if a cynical reader might have somehow assumed Ellis was involved in the circumstances that led to this situation… especially with the photo to the left. But you should put those thoughts aside as a fire arrow thunked against the Observer van from some unseen shooter. This quickly put paid to a ‘cop gone crazy’ theory and as the Observer team ducked for cover we captured Ellis, Rog from the FDH and another officer rescuing the girl, before the FDH extinguished the flames.
No perpetrator was caught (yet) as far as the Observer could tell, but sources indicate that the feared Ain Hopper might have been behind the attack, or at least someone wearing the type of costumes he prefers. With the untimely passing of Grandpa Hopper, we at the Observer expect that Ain is now the oldest and likely leader of his group of diverse misfits.
What was his motivation for this attack, was it a distraction on something else? Did he shoot at our reporters or just at our van… questions for an interview if we can! We weren’t able to see whether officer Ellis was seriously injured, but as our last photo showed, he did appear to need some assistance. Is this another case of ‘bad cop’ does ‘good thing’? It’s a dichotomy of Hathian; people do their jobs sometimes and these are sometimes good, but it’s almost as if they have another side…
Finally, if you know who the injured woman is then please ask her to get in contact with the Observer where we would love to feature her in an interview about her experiences as well as her feedback on Officer Ellis and the every helpful hands of Rog.
