HPD Celebrations came to Hathian recently when the Men and Women in blue celebrated ten years of Service from Inspector Krystal O´Neil, who as this reporter understands it (and watch out for our exclusive interview with Miss O’Neil shortly) is a voice of reason and significant power behind the Hathian Police Department. I should like to note that she strikes a good impression and while difficult questions are bring reserved to the interview, she at least doesn’t come across as someone directly involved in what many are concerned about; HPD blue on civilian crime. Still, responsibility sits somewhere and we will be pushing that angle!
Parking those concerns to an interview later, the Observer was delighted to attend the ceremony which had been setup outside HPD with a large stage, as well as refreshments and so on.

Vanora’s Speech
The first order of business was to appreciate Vanora ‘Irregular Boots’ Blackheart as she took the stage to deliver a speech to the assembled officers and guests.
Vanora: “Today we gathered here together. Not to hold a funeral for once, or to say goodbye to a fellow officer. No, today we are here to do something else. Something more joyful and appreciative. To thank a good friend, a fellow officer… A leader… For her dedication to the HPD, the community and her fellow officers.”

“Always stoic. But reasonable. Listening and offering advice when needed. Having the back of fellow officers. Krystal O’Neil. Correction, Inspector O’Neil! Before she murders me on the spot for not using a correct rank structure. She has been with the HPD for over ten years now and this year will marked as her tenth. On this day. For that we as a department want to thank her. For her dedication to the force. Her supervising and creation of a family. That has lasted. A family that has created friendship and support and always with an open door one can come to when they have need.”
HPD staff there listened respectfully and while perhaps there were some mutterings from the audience, it was generally as respectful as HPD events can be.
Vanora: “She always listens to others suggestions and consideration while always keeping the law and justice in sight. Fighting against the ever present threat of injustice this city fights daily. While keeping her fellow officers in sight. Protecting them. While she tends to act she doesn’t care for the officers, or friendship with them in her stone heart. I have seen her other side. A caring officer. Dedicated mother. More then anything a good leader to look up to!”

We toured around the party, taking photos of the guests ((click to expand above)) and saw some really impressive dress uniforms (Hiroshi!) as well as some unorthodox approaches (Vanora’s boots… Trevor’s ripped top…) which were still pretty cool as well.

As we roved around, Vanora’s speech continued…
Vanora: “She commands authority and strength. I hope she will be with us for many more years to come, serving the city of Hathian with dedication. When I started in the HPD as an exchange officer nearly ten years ago, Inspector O’Neil was one of the first to welcome me with open arm. Going against a corrupt, for better word Muppet show of brass back then who considered sending officers out the street without equipment.”
“And half of them part of the Immortal. Or better know as Zero family. Standing against the stupidity of it. She had my back when we went into an armed robbery at a liquor store turned hostage situation. She is my partner now for a bit more then eight or nine years. Always having my back. Came around when I was dead sick on my bed. Always had an ear open for my problems. Those on the job and private. I wouldn’t ask for a better wing man in this cesspool of a town. Krystal sacrificed a lot for the HPD. From family. To marriage. Friendships…“

Vanora: “All for the betterment of this town and its community! Sometimes for good times. A lot of bad times. She has her flaws but that doesn’t stop her from trying to do the best thing she can for the department And while we don’t always see eye to eye. She is a dedicated officer. From solving murder cases. To dealing with pregnant woman using there unborn as a human shield. To dealing with the KOGA and their nonsense. She does her best to keep what little the HPD has going. Working with an underpaid Police department. Lacking resources for what violence and terrorism happens in this town. She does make it work!”

“So today I want to thank her. And offer an award. For her dedication and service to the city of Hathian. Mayor Bobby offers his full support. And this award from the community. To her for service rendered. While the medal itself is but a small token. I do hope that Inspector O’Neil will appreciate the token and gesture from her fellow officers. The community and her friends and family how we care and appreciate her.”
Vanora: “While I can’t state what the future will be, or how it will happen, I have no doubt that moving forward with the dedicated team in the HPD will work. The officers, man and woman. We will tame the fires of violence, murder, rape and gang assault. So I ask you all. Join me in thanking Krystal O’Neil for her service. With that. I hand over this reward to her in the hopes that she will appreciate the gesture from all her officers. Friends. I will stand to the side to let others speak now. So they can thank her. And have a few words for the Inspector…”
The Party
Once Vanora’s speech was concluded, other officers came up to take their turns paying respect to Krystal.
“I remember when I joined the HPD in 2017, O´Neill was the go to person back then, along with Susser… McConnor taught me to handle HPD matters by the book, at least the cover of it, O´Neill taught me poachers can make good rangers… O’Neill, as Lieutenant never tried to pamper her ego, nor to be popular… I never requested any rank, I remember I was made Corporal after catching a serial creep called Pig Man, later she asked me to name an officer to be made SGT, I gave a name… she asked that officer to name an officer to be made SGT, he said my name. We were both made SGT next day and served the HPD when there were less when a hand full of active officers. If anyone asks me, how a leader should walk, I will say, like O’Neill!”
Sgt. Lyssandra Ritter
Others, including a not very well disguised Alice crow offered their ‘praise’:
Alice: “Cheers to the woman of the hour, may she have many more years on her throne, lets hope one of those pesky criminals doesn’t end her, that would be catastrophic!”
She was followed by Aubin, one of the chunkier of HPD’s officers (in a good way):
Aubin: “I was brought inta’ this Department fours years ago, t’ first person t’ meet me when I was brought on-board was Inspector O-Neil. Her aura can be intimidatin’, and ya’ can’t blame ‘er, she’s seasoned an’ has ah’ wealth ah’ experience ya’ don’t find in many officers today, t’ ‘Old Guard’ you can call it. Krystal is ah’ responsible an’ measured presence. she won’t stop ’till ah’ issue is resolved, whippin’ Detective ’till ah’ case closed. An’ she uses t’ grit she has t’ guide us through the stormiest seas an’ steadyin’ us until we find calm waters. She’s pulled t’ department through thick n’ thin an’ ‘er perseverance after ah’ decade ah’ service is ah’ testament t’ not only ‘er will, but as ah’ symbol of er’ strength an’ commitment to peace. Thank you Inspector. Duty. Courage. Honor. Lead t’ way.”
Of course after the speeches there had to the PARTY! DJ Poppy span the decks and although the Observer crew didn’t stay for that long we did get some photos below ((click to expand) and we did also hear… that someone (we’ll let you work it out) got up on stage and danced naked. It wouldn’t be Hathian without that!
