The modern version of Romeo and Juliet happened to come true outside Pie Hole Pizzeria in Hathian on the 15th March, and why not? Isn’t life just a stage, and all the men and women in Hathian merely players?
A couple known for their frequent arguments became the focal point of a disturbing incident that nearly claimed both of their lives.
Witnesses described the couple as being in a heated dispute when they suddenly became physically violent. The man brandished a sword from within his clothing, while the woman produced a gun from her pants. In a tragic turn of events, the man stabbed the woman and the women retaliated by shooting the man.
The motive for the dispute is believed to be related to an unplanned pregnancy. The man reportedly wanted the woman to have an abortion, while she was against it.
Both individuals collapsed to the ground in a pool of blood. A nearby bystander, who had been alerted by the sound of gunfire, immediately called for emergency services.
As paramedics arrived, the couple lay on the floor covered in blood, holding each other and urging each other to stay alive. Witnesses described a sense of regret and anguish in their eyes.
One ambulance arrive to the scene, but the situation was so serious that another came to provide further life-saving support. Once the ambulances arrived and colleagues from FDH administered first aid it was still a serious situation with the victims’ injuries being so severe that they required transport to the hospital for surgery. Remarkably, we understand, despite their wounds, the woman did not lose her pregnancy and it appears that the couple chose not to press charges, and remain together.
The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the potential consequences of unchecked aggression and the importance of seeking help before conflicts escalate. Free psychological services are available at the Hathian General Hospital for couples experiencing relationship difficulties.
