Clam Convenience was once again the victim of a reckless gang attack that left two officers, Bliour Michaels and Jaebus Clave downed and one new manager set on making sure the community knows he will not just roll over.
It all started this past Wednesday, when members of the notorious Reject gang tried to rob the store. Piper Rewell McAuley, the leader, and well known members Esperanza Hernandoz and Quint McAuley harassed the on-duty attendant after smashing his phone with a hammer until he let them start taking what they wanted. Video surveillance shows a black male later joining in on the havoc.
The crime might have stopped there had Officers not happened upon the gang and tried to arrest them. With no back up, Officers were outnumbered, especially when Hernandoz drove her SUV into the front of the building with the intent on pinning Officer Michaels. Footage shows just how successful she was as Officer Michaels pleaded for mercy after shooting several rounds towards the vehicle’s windshield to no avail. Footage also showed Hernandoz speaking with Michaels after – what was said is still unknown to the Observer, but a follow up is being set up with Officer Michaels.
Many seemed bewildered about the incident, not understanding how a robbery could get so out of hand and some even suggested that the HPD needed to revise their tactics in handle issues with those known to taker more reckless routes.
Clam worker, Miranda Wells simple said, “”It…well, it sucks. The whole thing just seems pointless to me. I don’t understand why they would do this…I’m just glad none of our people were hurt in this. I’ll never get used to these gangs…I didn’t believe my uncle when he told me how bad it was here…but I’m learning I guess.”
The new Clam manager Apsen Normandy had a different reaction. There was no shock or surprise, though he was optimistic about the fact it meant he could renovate the Clam some, “They’re Rejects. The parasites of society. They do what they do ’cause no one’s ganked them yet. Dunno how we can… stop some drug-addled lunatic from drivin’ their van through our wall again, to be honest. But we’ll be followin’ up with Rader records to see about getting some of these damages paid for. Figure since they’re basically owned by that pack of thugs, it oughta come out of their pocket.”” YET seemed to be the hint there that he wasn’t going to just roll over and let those who harm his business get away with it.
After the feud that occurred with the previous manager, we have to wonder just how much that convenience store can take – it might be the toughest victim out there. It seems lately the Rejects are back at it again, regardless. There have been several rumors and reports about the trouble they have been causing – most afraid to speak up to not only the Obeserver, but the police as well.
Some aren’t too afraid to voice their anger at them, however. All you’ll hear around the Clam lately are comments such as “Bloody fuckin’ Rejects…” and, “someone should ram a cattle-prod so far up their asses the electrical charge gives them brain damage.”
