Nerds and comic book lovers alike can now save the long trek to downtown Hathian to find their latest issues! Longbox Comics has finally opened on campus, providing a safe place to escape reality and dive into a world of heroes and villains without having to actually worry about any villains coming after them.
Longbox Comics isn’t a branch of the Comiquities store, but the school board really wanted a campus store that could be run by the students. The owner, Ulric Merlin, mentioned that there have been plenty of dangerous moments over by the downtown comic shop, especially some recent shootings near the bakery nearby.
The owner, Ulric Merlin, is a well-known cheerleader for CU, and he announced that for every purchase of a comic shop, customers will receive a free coffee and muffins! The shop also features an awesome air hockey table! Working alongside Ulric, so far, is a girl who was his former boss at Comiquities, a self-acclaimed “nerd encyclopedia”, and a comic recommendations expert who was willing to help anyone needing a reading suggestion.
A Grand Opening is being planned which will likely be a Cosplay event, so get those costume ideas ready! Personally, I’m thinking of going as Lois Lane! Ulric is hoping to partner with other campus businesses like Rock Hard Boba, Get Woke, Bleu Wag, Looters, and possibly others as we all come together to form a sense of community, celebrating new businesses here on campus!
Stay tuned for information about this exciting Grand Opening, and stop by to see the team at Longbox Comics, located on the second floor, across from the Blue Wag and the Taco Truck! Who knows… you might find some inspiration to be your own hero!
