Tonight, Looters Pub was full of lights, music and energy as the President of Pi House performed her own songs to a lively campus crowd! It was a mixture of cheers, phone cameras, and indie vibes. The ‘boomer’ spoken-word section and the sing-along closer “Young Forever” definitely got the crowd cheering and clapping along!

Kara Cher Elle Kent-Danvers, yes that is her full name, is a campus influencer who not only runs the Pi House with Isla Hawthorne but she also loves Cosplay (where she personifies Supergirl) and fashion. She’s been learning guitar from both Isla and Sunday, who helped her gain confidence in playing and performing for others.

“I was always writing songs back home in Kansas, but my major interest was always fashion until I ended up in the Pi house with a bunch of other influencers and creatives and that kind of inspired me. Isla and Sunday taught me to play properly and then tonight was just seeing if I was actually any good.”
While Kara’s favorite artist is a more recent superstar – Lorde – she is definitely more of a retro-indie vibe, selling her music on tapes and curating that old-world charm. “Her song White Teeth Teens really spoke to me about growing up in the middle of nowhere,” Kara told me, which reminded her of growing up in Kansas, where her foster parents didn’t always support her interest in music.
Kara doesn’t just play music and sing though. She loves to co-ordinate her fashion with live performances, and play around with different sounds that can be used in her music, though her songs are more lyrically driven. Her passion shows through everything she does!
Kara’s next show is at the ‘Crackchella‘ on Batterie Beach, on August 22nd at 11 am. Be sure to check it out!
