Hathian residents, it’s now (earlyish) June and I’m doing the May Month in Review. That’s an improvement and as this is quite a busy month for news, there’s a good amount to pick from spanning our usual gamut of terrorists, nudity, cops, students (nudity) and more.

So, without much more of an intro here is the last month April 2026 review and the 2025 year in review as well if you’re new to town and want to go back.

As always I select my top three articles for May and give you a brief synopsis of them, along with the link to them so you can either read them if you missed them, OR can refresh yourself if you wish.

We had 29 (twenty-nine!) articles to pick from, so a good selection! Let me know what you think dear readers, as always the door to the Observer is always open to genuine feedback!

Wedding Gifts

Hook, Line & Sinker’s Merrick Ashwood promised practical tracking, trapping and outdoorsman services. The Observer, being both helpful and deeply suspicious, asked for proof. The result was a field test involving Clivia Sanko, our editor’s now wife. It also involved a bait sign (she does swing both ways – Ed), a snare, and one now wife hanging upside down from a tree while our Editor took photographs for public education and marital consequences.

CU Sorority Goes Sexual Eventually Leads to Split

Jizzabelle Lovejoy took readers inside Sigma Theta Noir’s long-awaited Fetish Night, where campus reputation, sorority schism (oh yes… the drama), BDSM safety, Social Clout cameras and a very full attic became the kind of spectacle CU pretends to be shocked by and then absolutely reads about. Lots. And pervs on the photos. And if your Daytona prints them out for later ‘use’ (Ew!)

Equal parts party report, personal reflection and shameless ΣΘΝ manifesto our article captured a campus scene that was very much not suitable for reading over someone’s shoulder at work, well… ok some of you at the XXX or whatever could read it for sure.

Yuugen Try Try and Try Again

In one of May’s most personal pieces, I returned to the subject of ‘Sin to Win’, Yuugen spectacle, survival. and what it means to be turned into a number for someone else’s entertainment. This was not an easy article… But it was an important one: it’s a refusal to let cruelty define the people forced through it, and a reminder that Hathian’s worst games do not get the final word as long as someone can write the truth later.

I also thought for this month I’d add two notifications of death that we received at the Observer. One was closer to home, Rose who died from a suspected drug overdose. The other was Silvano, an FDH member of staff, rumoured to have got into trouble, but also a stalwart life saver with the FDH. May they both RIP.

That concludes the news round-up for May 2026! As always, catch a reporter from the Observer (or we visit as required) to give us your stories, tips or other information!

((Promotion of the Observer and CD happens off-sim as well, so if you can help out feel free to link to your other SL friends. Spread the word, the active stories and see if we can’t generate new role-players or encourage others to return!))
