The Fire Department of Hathian (‘FDH’) hosted their Charity Art Auction at the Hathian Performing Arts Centre (‘HPAC’) in Black Bottom.
With pieces on display from a variety of local artists the auction was in aid of raising funds for the replacement of FDH equipment damaged in recent law enforcement action by the Hathian Police Department (‘HPD’).
The event, a Black Tie and formalwear occasion was one where for once, I was perhaps wanted as both the pianist for the event, but also as a photographer.

The Great & the Good
While it must be said that some of those at the venue have had incidents with both the FDH and/or the HPD, the actual event itself passed off well. There were no stabbings (that I know of), no use of Carly’s ‘Thor’s Hammer’ (that I saw) and no gang vendettas prosecuted by Mr.Bundy or others. In fact, many of those most known as being ‘dangerous’ were more ‘dangerously dressed’ and looked really rather good.
For example, feast your eyes on this suit and you’ll find that the person in it, looks more respectable than usual.

As well as Charlie, other notable ‘interesting’ characters included:

The Totals
We understand that the auction resulted in tens of thousands of dollars being raised, and although this may be a little way away from the cost of a new Fire Engine, it surely helps keeping us in Hathian protected from fires, floods and other emergencies where good quality equipment is essential to the smooth running of the city
From my own perspective, it was fantastic to be able to play and forget trauma for a bit. Forget hate. Just enjoy my music, the fine and pretty people and the idea that conceptually and hopefully in practice, this was all for a good cause.
