On December 16th, at approximately 4:00 PM, Firefighter Corbin LaSalle and Fire Chief Trevor Pentewyn, experienced a harrowing and unforgettable event at the fire station. What began as an ordinary day quickly turned into a nightmare when four masked individuals, including identified figures including Zeek Rookswood and Milo Tchaikovsky, arrived at the station.

Disguised under the pretence of delivering a singing telegram, their intentions were far from festive. Milo, dressed as a menacing Santa Grinch, forced entry into the station alongside Zeek and two unknown accomplices. Their threats were unmistakable and personal, targeting the chief in his professional role. He told what had happened after I visited them in the hospital.

”This attack was a deliberate, coordinated, and premeditated act of violence against me and the Fire Department of Hathian. The group acted with precision and intent, targeting both myself and our medical resources. I firmly believe this was meant to intimidate me into resigning as Fire Chief or to eliminate me.”

Trevor Pentewen, Fire Chief

“Your resignation or you are to be terminated” – attacker’s threat

After brutally attacking the chief causing multiple injuries, they ransacked FDH medical supplies and left with the words above. I reached out to an FDH employee for a further comment, they choose to be anonymous.

Anon. Employee of FDH: “I think the old fire chief tryin’ to get his spot back so he can gang up the fire department and him and his crew can do what they want. ’cause the guy that got Chief with a machete is in the Bones, and one’a them other guys that was there I know he’s in good with the Bones and the Yuugen. Even if he’s not in their gangs. I don’t know bout that still, but that dude used to work at FDH so he was like, spyin’ for the gangs or somethin’. If the Bones running FDH, you know they won’t be treatin’ anyone they don’t like. And bet they’re not gonna bother puttin’ out any fires for people they got beef with either. They probably gonna SET fires… Chief Pentewyn not backin’ down though. That’s how much he cares bout keepin’ everyone safe and keepin’ FDH neutral so everybody get treated and their fires put out, even if we don’t like ’em. It’s not gonna be that way anymore if he’s not the chief, like if the Bones runnin’ the place. I don’t even know if they can do that since the old fire chief killed a cop, and all his crew some bad dudes too. This place crazy, but we that crazy they would let a gang run FDH? Chief not goin’ anywhere, but if somethin’ like that happened… Bet your ass I’m not gonna be workin’ here anymore, and probably all the rest of the crew too. I love helpin’ people, LOVE my job and I love my FDH brothers and sisters… but no way I’m takin’ orders from a gangbanger chief who only cares about bein’ in power. Bones no heroes. They tried killin’ a guy who works his ass off for this city, and he got kids and grandkids. What good they ever did for Hathian? I mean, the old fire chief used to be one of the good guys, but he’s not anymore and nobody in the Bones is. They just try’na play games with everyone to get what they want. Chief Pentewyn not goin’ anywhere.”

HPD Statement

HPD investigated the incident, and along with FDH issued the following statement. This was shared with me through the chief:

On December 16th, a violent and calculated attack occurred within the Fire Department of Hathian’s station. A group of masked individuals forcibly entered the premises wielding weapons, attacking FDH personnel, issuing death threats to force the resignation of the Fire Chief and looting critical medical supplies. This was not a random incident, it was a targeted, premeditated assault designed to intimidate and destabilize.

This attack is part of a troubling and repeated pattern in Hathian: emergency services have been placed under unprecedented pressure, stretched thin by escalating violence, dwindling resources and direct threats to those who serve this community. The Hathian Police Department and FDH have already been targeted and Hathian General Hospital has not been spared, it too has faced attacks and disruptions to critical services.

The looting of life-saving medical supplies and the deliberate targeting of personnel not only impacts fire and rescue services but puts the entire emergency response system, fire, police, and medical departments at risk. These tactics that are driven by political motives or calculated chaos should not be tolerated.

Such actions endanger everyone. The emergency services exist to protect this city, but we cannot do so effectively when targeted attacks undermine our ability to respond. The consequences are far-reaching, threatening the safety of every resident and first responder alike.

Let us be clear: this department will not bow to terror. These threats will neither force resignations nor prevent us from doing our duty. Hathian’s emergency services remain steadfast, but this attack highlights a growing crisis, one that demands swift and united action. We need gangs who try to undermine the emergency departments to be held accountable. We need resources and above all, we need the support of this community to ensure we can continue to protect them.

This incident will be treated as a deliberate act of terrorism, armed violence, and conspiracy. Those responsible must be held accountable.

Our message to those who seek to perpetuate this chaos: You will fail. Hathian’s emergency services fire and police stand together in unwavering solidarity. Violence, intimidation, and terror will not divide us. This city will stand stronger and more united than ever.

Chief Rhys Dafydd Pentewyn FDH and Detective Inspector O’Neil HPD

“I will not bow down” – FDH Chief.

Fire chief vows not to leave his post and continue leading FDH to deliver its essential services to the public. This was not the first attack against him personally for he was kidnapped soon after taking his post and targeted while on duty numerous times.

The question of gangs and their continued impunity is one that is too complex to unravel in this article. What we can do as citizens might be limited in the face of a broken and corrupt system. But we can and should support our essential workers, reach out to FDH with your donations or any other form of support that might be needed.

Stay Safe Hathians.
