There seems to be an epidemic of Reject-esque nabbings this month.
It was a dark, humid evening on November 20th. The corner of Main and King Street was bustling with all kinds of illegal affairs. Three hundred feet in and we see a pair of vehicles come to a screeching halt in front of Rader Records, the smell of burnt rubber etched in the asphalt captivated the coke-laden nasal cavities of those in the vicinity as an illegal street race came to a close.
Laughter and shouting can be heard between both cars, and a small gathering in front of the record shop spectates the event.
The evening is a typical one, ‘controlled mayhem’. That is, until a blazing hot red 4×4 speeds down Flood Way. It comes down the street and around the corner and passes the side of the Radar Records as a woman can be seen dropping the hatchback.
Shortly before passing the intersection of Hangman’s Pass and King Street the woman pushes out a large garbage bag while the truck is in motion. It bounces harshly against the ground until it comes to a stop right by Rader Records. The truck never stops, but a young woman from one of the racing cars steps out and hollers toward it. Allegedly, this woman claims that it’s her aunt’s 4×4.
And this woman’s aunt is none other than the ‘Sunshine nabber’ from earlier in the week, Carly Martini, who seems to be on a roll at prodding the beast that is the Rejects gang by kidnapping them and their possible affiliates.
Carly, 46, is a Hathian native (and in these pages from time to time as a dangerous woman – Ed). Rumours state that she was just thirteen when she joined the local Bloods gang here in the city some thirty years ago. Eventually, Carly would become their gang leader and their gang set would operate under the umbrella of the ‘KrackDen Bloods gang of Hathian’. The Bloods had a fierce rivalry with the Rejects gang and this perhaps, is a continuation. Perhaps those on either side of the gang might think it’s a shame? Similar in nature, they should have banded together in spite of perhaps arguably the most notorious gang of all – the Hathian Police Department.
While there are tales of the two oldest gangs in the city in rare times joining in alliance against the tyrant that is the H.P.D., their rivalry would end over ten years ago when a devastating flood would overtake the city. It is then that the Bloods would perish, and in the wake of their demise, the Rejects would remain standing, and a decade long feud is finally put to rest.
…Or so it seems…
Rumor has it that Carly is not only holding a grudge against the Rejects, but she is perhaps obsessed with them. From researching the Observer, to a one-on-one with pretty much anyone with a mouth and eyes in the city, Carly is always trying to get ahead of her ‘opps’, so they say.
We understand that the woman accompanying her on the night that the 4×4 took out the trash, so to say, is the same one who conspired with her over the kidnapping of Jessica “Sunshine” Silverton back about two weeks prior. Apparently, she is only known as “Nox”,but by accompanying the older gangster on a trip to Radar Records to prod the beast shows she doesn’t mind the danger.
One of the two vehicles, the one of which Carly’s apparent niece leaped on out of, immediately throws the car into reverse. With an apparent intention to slam the rear end of the vehicle into the speeding 4×4, it misses, shifts into drive and immediately turns right onto Hangmans’s Pass, initiating a hot pursuit. Meanwhile, a large, hulking man standing outside of Rader Records begins to shoot at the red truck, but it didn’t seem to slow Carly and Nox down, although many witnesses took this chance to duck for cover.
The car that chases the 4×4 is none other than Sunshine, the previous kidnapping victim, shouting a slur of curses and incoherent phrases as she recklessly speeds up to them. They speed down the remainder of the bridge until Sunshine is able to clip the 4×4. After gaining enough speed, the 4×4 would come to a screeching halt, causing Jessi’s car to slam into the rear end. The engine cuts off, and Carly and Nox are heard laughing at Jess as they speed off into D8, leaving a furious Reject behind.
As for the garbage bag? The contents of the bag were revealed in the form of one male tentatively identified as ‘Izador’ who was laden with skid marks from the pavement upon his naked body as well as some nasty lacerations and bruises. To this reporter, it looks like the Rejects received an early Christmas present from a bitter old gangster. Perhaps her rumoured grudge is simmering down after all? No… we really don’t think so. Then again, in the city of Hathian, one can never be so sure.
The Observer’s Editor Writes:
Long ago, the now City of Hathian had been nothing more than a small, broken town labelled as a ‘Krack Den’ as it was missing an official name. the first two gangs to populate the area formed, drawing the street together into distinctive groups. One of them was the Bloods and the other gang was the Rejects and in a time before Hathian had a formal name these two groups of individuals vied over the ‘trade’. Their fierce rivalry continued until with the passing of time, only the Rejects were left – yet ‘relics’ remain… Carly Martini being one of them perhaps?
