The Rejects linger in the smoky aftermath of destroying a police cruiser.

In the intricate network of the criminal underworld, a new, juicy rumour is spreading around and the Observer got wind of it through the grapevine, where after a little corroboration we feel it has enough weight to be published.

Rumour has it that Jessica ‘Sunshine’ Silverton, renowned affiliate of the notorious Rejects gang in Hathian, has recently been the victim of a brutal kidnapping. Last seen at Lou’s Bar shortly before her kidnapping, Sunshine vanished off the grid for nearly a week before being discovered in the outskirts of Conjure five days later.

Sunshine was found with severe bruising which medical reports indicated was a sign of significant brute force trauma, along with one or more stab wounds. Part of the report lends a little weight to one unlikely (for a Reject) rumour stating that the Reject tried to kill herself while held at the mercy of her captives.

In so far as how she was found, the white knights in shining armour somehow received word that a white Toyota Celica was driving down in the untamed lands around Conjure, which inevitably led to the rescue of Sunshine.

The white knights in shining armour? Do you know who they were? If you guessed the Hathian Police Department, then you’re cute. Really. No, this reporter and the tipsters didn’t credit the HPD with reaching out down to Conjure, that’s ‘outside their jurisdiction’ so note to readers, try not to get kidnapped down there… The LSD, the local department, is rather… stretched…

No, as we understand it, it would be the Rejects would have caught a whiff of their captive ‘Sunshine’ and, in typical wolf pack fashion, raided the sleazy cul-de-sac trailer park until they rescued their own.

Rumour also has it that one of Silverton’s two captives is a notorious gangster herself. Former leader of the Bloods gang in Hathian, Carly Martini is specifically named in the kidnapping of Sunshine.

Her accomplice, only known by the name Knox at this time, might have been responsible for the ads that surfaced among the dark web in attempt to traffik Jessica in exchange for cash.

The pictures on the dark web depict an image of an unconscious or otherwise motionless Jessica lying against a red Jeep Wrangler as it floats above the surface of the shoreline somewhere off the coast of the city. It was later discovered that this same red Jeep looks strikingly familiar to one filed in a claim of a stolen vehicle report to their insurance. That claim, inevitably, belonged to Carly.

The Observer hates to navigate the Dark Web… Stanley is worried about the FBI getting him so after lots of bleach to wash away the bad taste, we did retrieve one video ((We Only Act on DW stories with OOC permission.))

She’s Just Jealous of us

Our Editor Daiyu, approached the Rejects outside their normal place of business to obtain any thoughts they might have on the situation.

Observer: “Would anyone tell me why Carly Martini has issues with the good people behind this store? I’d love a quote about her…”

It should be pointed out that Daiyu let us know that Carly had not only been quite important back ‘in the day’, but had not been as visible recently, until now. Readers interested can search for her name in our archives.

Hunky Reject: “We Rejects understand that that nostalgia can create strong feelings, especially for folks who were a part of a gang that was was once more… active and while we appreciate the legacy of Carly and her former gang, the Rejects will always be around Hathian. We are the past, the present and the future.”

Observer: “That’s very diplomatic of you… but didn’t she try and sell one of your members on the Dark Web?”

Hunky Reject: “Can ya imagine what we would’ve done to her if she would’ve truly pissed us off? What’s more I heard she done pissed off the cops… Carly’s fuckin’ jealous that’s why she got issues wit’ us”

Considering the nature of the claim and the rumours, it was a remarkably ‘polite’ conversation without threats or invective against either Daiyu or Carly. At least for Carly, we feel that is a sign of even more danger.

We’ve chosen to illustrate this article with both evidence of the tenure of the Rejects (our header) and below, the inventiveness of violence, as depicted in Christmas at Rader.
