Columtreal University's Inaugural Food Festival

By: CU Reporter Shilo

What up y’all?! It’s ya girl Shilo here to tell you all about Columtreals’ first ever ‘Food Festival’ that I had had the pleasure of covering!

So on Wednesday November 20th through to the Thursday Columtreal University held a Campus wide food festival on the football field in Black Bottom. It was organized by Murphy’s pub and sponsored by the Greek Life houses: Sigma Theta Noir, Delta Alpha Epsilon and Lambda Obscura. So I am excited to tell you about it!

Buffy was serving Mimosa’s courtesy of Sigma Theta Noir, the premier sorority on campus. I snapped this photo of her with Keyate, Owner of Grinders, who won the award, (I had just made up that day), for best booth.

Rachael and me at the ‘Witch Way Alley’ booth, check out her neat trick! It’s like magic! I said we could be Sarah and Nancy from the Craft and we just need Bonnie and Rochelle. She then said “I take all the power of Manon into me.” I love that movie!

Bleu Wag was serving up delicious Ratatouille and fabulous PoBoys.

Nicky, President of Delta Epsilon Alpha, the fraternity on campus as well as one of the event sponsors and myself in front of the Murphy’s booth!

Dillon with Get Woke Coffee, serving up delectable donuts and delicious Coffee creations!

Connor aka “Beefstick” as he is affectionately known throughout campus, brought Pizza and Sodas from Papa Pepperoni

Lamba Obscura, our final event sponsor, the Co-ed Greek Life house on campus dropped off books that were interesting and Mysterious, like them.

Yunin set up some yummy Sushi and Delicious soups/poke bowls for Super Chopsticks

Lastly we had Murphy’s Irish pub serving up their signature Southern/Irish Infusion sweet treats such as a Bailey’s Guinness Stout Chocolate Grasshopper Pound cake, a nod to my home state of Mississippi! As well as their amazing Irish Soda bread pudding, an Irish twist on a New Orleans classic! Of course we had to pair each dessert with either Abita Beer, brewed locally in New Orleans or Jameson Whiskey, a staple of any Irish pub. They also debuted its new Wine, Murphy’s Cellars Reserve vinified locally in Laveau.

I would like to thank everyone who participated and helped, we could not have had such a successful event without you and I look for to the 2nd annual Columtreal food festival. Even Rog showed up! If you missed the food festival, don’t fret there’s always next year! Don’t forget to check out these amazing restaurants and businesses here on Campus!
