On the 2nd August 2024 join the Hathian Museum & Galleries and the CU Clinic for an auction event with a twist! While we’ve got an impressive track record of hosting balls, Modelling, firefighter auctions, Mr & Miss Hathian and more, we really wanted to link art, with the human body and make a celebration of the connectivity you can make with your fellow Citizens.
The Hathian Museum & Galleries is seeking to foster the ‘art’ of social interactions and humanity.
In this new interactive art experience you can visit the museum and bid on some unique lots… These lots, your fellow citizens, represent different portraits of Hathian, some good, some bad, not many ugly, but all with perhaps something unique. Securing a winning bid means you and your new ‘artwork’ will spend the next 24 hours with each other, documenting your journey as you create living art together.
You will create a photo journal of what you did with photos of how you engaged with your partner. The best photo journal documenting your experiences as ‘Citizens United’ will win back 20% of the total bidding amounts, while each lot will receive a flat fee of $500.
For example, if we raise $10,000 then the prize winner will receive $2,000 with the rest, less the $500 per lot fee going to charity. ((There’s also a L$ 1,500 1st and L$750 for the first and second best photo journals)). All remaining money will be donated to paediatrics services at HGH where children’s health care is so important. We expect to raise a good amount!
Auction Details
So you want to bid?
- Visit the museum during the auction event (2nd August 2024, 12:30pm to 2.30pm SLT)
- During the auction lots will present themselves on stage in a manner of their choosing
- If you win, he or she will be your partner for 24 hours ((You are expected to have two but preferably three scenes and it can happen over more than 24 hours due to RL and time zones. It’s up to you how you handle it))
- You and your partner are expected to take photos of your time together in a photo journal and submit back to the Museum as an entry into the competition. ((No ‘must do’ this, but it’s the IC art hook and we will display perm on the wall of the museum photos submitted!))
Registering As An ‘Artwork’
So you want to be a lot?
- Add your name to the list at the museum ((Event sign-up in CD Discord or via NC to Zofia / Daiyu))
- ((Name, Photo, Age, Any OOC limits via NC or Discord please))
- Be prepared to go on stage and demonstrate your art. Perhaps you will talk, dance, pose… You have a short amount of time while bids are in
- Leave the museum with your new partner at the end of the event, or arrange a better time
- You and your partner are expected to take photos of your time together in a photo journal and submit back to the Museum as an entry into the competition. ((No ‘must do’ this, but it’s the IC art hook and we will display perm on the wall of the museum photos submitted!))

Party & Music – Yes Please!
Currently we aim to host a live singer for the first hour during the auction and then switch, likely still during the auction to DJ Poppy, Hathian’s most amazing DJ to up the tempo as the auction heads towards the conclusion with a dance party available after…

((Just a few things to make the event go smoothly:
- All limits must be respected, although if you are interested in a particular character and want to check, maybe IM them before the auction to discuss any particular scenes you want
- There is no requirement to hold the date immediately, it can be scheduled around your OOC availability and should be realistically c. 24hrs of IC time for your character
- If you enter the IC/OOC competition for a photo journal, you should submit at least 3 pictures of what you got up to, along with some IC narrative as your ‘pitch’. Narrate your photo journal and send the NC and photos or whatever format your journal takes, e.g. FLICKR to Daiyu Tang before the 14th August 2024. Ideally you will use SL tools only (e.g. wind lights) and not Photoshop or Lightroom, etc for an even playing field
- First prize IC is 20% of total auction proceeds. First prize OOC is $1,500L and second prize is $750L. Winners to be determined by Daiyu with Poppy as an independent judge if it’s close!
- We do have a cap of auction lots of somewhere max of 8 (4 – 6 ideal) this is to keep the event within the time! First come really, but please do then come if you’re accepted!
- Realistic IC bids please… I get it, some people are really rich, but let’s try to keep this ICLY realistic as someone is going to get 20% of the total and HGH will get the other 80%
- Artwork will be displayed in the museum afterwards! Please send copy/mod!
- We hope to have a live talent singing and taking requests during the event for half the time and the amazing DJ Poppy the other half, but this schedule may change!
