Reader, if you might recall, I published a warning when Lenore Hopper appeared at the Observer. Raving about an imminent apocalyptic event and how a human sacrifice is needed to appease the Kraken. Sadly, they were able to locate the young woman they had been seeking and nearly managed to kill her not more than a week after visiting us.
Rescue Mission
It was a cold day when I joined HPDs effort to find the kidnapped woman. We searched and searched, although I am assured there was enough intelligence to justify the efforts. These efforts eventually paid up with us finding her naked atop the cliff near the wooden church. Lucas and Lenore Hopper were encasing her feet in concrete and were about to push her off the cliff, there were flares and all sorts of other oddities (typical Hoppers -Ed). She was tied and covered in symbols; clearly they had taken their view that there was a kraken in the waters that needed this sacrifice and we doubted that any reason could be got through to them.
I could not process how fast things were escalating because as soon the Hopper leading the ritual, later identified as Lenore, saw the cops, she pushed the helpless woman over the cliff to ensure her death in the ice cold water due to the concrete on her feet. HPD Lieutenant Landon Fyre, seizing a chance to be the Hathian Hero that he portrays himself as and rescue a woman in distress, ran past the Hoppers and jumped into the ice water to rescue the woman.
I saw that Lucas Hopper opened fire on the cops but was pushed by Sgt. Lizette over the cliff, pulling her with him. This all happened while Sgt. Nakayama was battling Lenore who dropped a lit Molotov in the fight, setting the cliff and both of them on fire. They both then decided to jump in the water over a death in fire.
With arriving EMT and Landon’s stalwart struggle to keep Katy’s head above the water, she was rescued, along with the half freezing officers. The Hoppers, as befits their scheme were put where they belong, behind bars!
Although the young woman was rescued, it was a brutal fight, we understand some fell over the cliff, although I was rather in fear for my life and so didn’t see all the details. It wouldn’t be surprising if some HPD officers and perhaps a Hopper or two had a dunking.
Hoppers’ New Religion?
During the encounter Lenore spoke incoherently about the ‘Devourer’s Divine’ and a Kraken that resides in the deep sea near Hathian. She gave a nonsense name (Srrrfff Srrrfff) to the chapel, and it seems the entire point of the worship is to apparently feed this Kraken so it does not cause devastation.
Later, when I had a chance to ask Lenore about this ritual (once the normal catch and release policy of HPD let her back to preach her craziness) and what had given her such an ancient biblical vision of destruction. This was her response:
“It is beyond its understanding, as a bee in a hive, would the bee understand if the wasp warns of the emerging bear eager for honey?”

Delusional or a Dangerous Development?
There is little to know about this new religion of The Devourer and while from Lenore’s statements one can easily assume she is delusional, given the Hoppers history and inclination. I am concerned that this development could mean more rituals, more victims and general mayhem.
I shall be keeping an eye on this and report any news. I urge you to be cautious citizens, and should you come across any information about the Hoppers new church do not hesitate to contact me at the Observer.
