Readers, Daiyu Tang here with an exclusive pre-fight interview with the stars of the Hathian Fight night scheduled for the 28th June 2023 at 3pm SLT. That’s right, I’ve actually got Lt. Landon Fyre and Zeek Rookswood in the same room, without them punching each other. Well done guys on saving that for the match night, the poster of which is reproduced below.
So there have been plenty of grudge matches in Hathian and many have been settled in the ring, although history has shown that sometimes things then continue outside of it.
For tomorrow, in one corner is Lt. Landon Fyre, known by many as one of the most violent police officers in Hathian. He will take on Zeek Rookswood, someone who is less well known but who it appears has had a number of encounters with Fyre already. Zeek is from New Zealand and works at the Rag Doller and the Titty Twister (as security). Handsome with piercing blue eyes he’s a relatively new face in Hathian having arrived here at the start of the year.
I’m not a fight aficionado and don’t know exactly how all of this is meant to go down, but I felt a few promo photos (and material kindly provided by the organisers) and then some statements from the fighters was how something like this should work. Hopefully below achieves that!
Zeek Rookswood – “I’ve never seen someone sulk as much as Fyre”
“The whole of Hathian knows Landon’s ways are backwards. He hates on anyone who is not white, or straight. And I am of color and enjoy the pleasures of both men and women. So, my motivation is for all those that have had the… pleasure of being Mister Fyre’s target because they are of color and/or gay. I beat him recently in a running race and I’ve never seen someone sulk so much, it was quite the sight when him and his three officers jumped on me”.
Zeek Rookswood
Zeek was cool, collected and calm. He spoke what he thought of was the truth and laid it down politely but with a determined glint in his eye. Doing it for ‘Team Pride’ was a clever concept and I am sure many of Hathian Citizens, especially this close to our Pride Events will be rooting for Zeek and his team.
Zeek kept up the approach of being polite but cutting. He ended the interview with something I was sure was going to get him punched… An attempted kiss of Landon.

We then moved onto Landon’s piece…
Lt. Landon Fyre – “Three Pathetic Boys? I Could Take Thirty!”
“When Zariah asked me to fight, I told her to find me a worthy champion. But she couldn’t… I’ve already defeated them all. I’m already holding the titles of Mister Hathian, the Fitbox Championship, and I’m routinely referenced as the most violent man in Hathian. Who could Zariah find for me?” So she found three pathetic boys to face me at once. And I laughed, and I told her to find thirty. Maybe then I’ll have a challenge.”
Landon Fyre
Fyre came out swinging in his interview, covering a range of topics designed perhaps to highlight himself (he’s good at self-promo), talk down Zeek and generally claim victory even though the bell has not yet run.
Fyre’s spirited defence of his record as an officer and as a champion of ethnically and sexually diverse Hathian Citizens showed him in the light that this paper has sometimes seen, as a troubled, confused but ultimately well guided law enforcement officer. While daily diversity training might not be a bad idea, it is perhaps not as (pardon the phrase) black and white that he is always discriminatory. There’s more complexity there than some appreciate.
“I’ve already won the fight. When I told Zeek he was less than half the man I am, he agreed. Mister Rookswood agreed to bring two other boys and when the three of them enter that cage tomorrow, they will be acknowledging that neither of them is my equal. These boys have humiliated themselves for my entertainment. I have already won.”
In closing, I will say Mister Rookswood here is misguidedly throwing around labels. The fact of the matter is, Hathian’s women of color come to me for justice. They know I’m the only man in town who will stand up to any gang member, leader, whoever they are, I will hunt them down. My record of arrests speaks for itself. If I keep talking about those I’ve saved, we’ll be here all night. Has Mister Rookswood here risked his life, or career, for women of color? No? I didn’t think so.”

The Observer is pleased to report that the fighters only verbally sparred and have therefore kept their energy for tomorrow’s event. We hope to see you there and many thanks for them and the Fight Club for giving time to allow this interview to take place.
