The anonymous texts had me rushing to the news van dear reader. But I am getting ahead of myself, for there was news that I wasn’t actually aware as the ‘code of silence’ had lengthened over Hathian. So, let’s start at the start.
HPD Sgt. Carter Ellis had gone missing; this fact was perhaps known to some of you (presumably the HPD and the kidnappers at least) but it had not reached the Observer; perhaps because the HPD don’t like to lose officers and have the press hear about it, or perhaps people didn’t think Carter needed to be in the paper in case he was found sooner. In either case, I was playing catch-up as I got those texts. I also had in mind the last time Carter went missing and the bloody result (although it had to be said, rumours of his death then were not accurate). Anyway, those texts:
‘Bridge’ – ‘Special Drop off’ – ‘You want to be there fast’
And they were right, getting there fast was important. On arrival I caught the tail end of a drop-off involving an old VW camper van in blue and white and at least two potential hostage takers as well as one nude Carter as per our leading image.

Not Your Normal Level of Violence
For those familiar with Carter you might recall that he has a metal arm. Well in the images above you can see that it was missing and instead, for some reason that I can’t really fathom other than perhaps it was meant to represent him as a ‘pig’ or ‘bore’ he had the appendage of a boar dangling from a stump. Bloodied and battered he really did not look good, however he also seemed not to be in control of his actions as, after a tip was called into HPD and officers arrived, he proceeded to brutalise Lt. Vanora by throwing her into a lamppost where she fell unconscious. It took what could have been her last moments, combined with two other officers to subdue Carter at which point Carter and Vanora were taken to HGH as far as we’re aware and then, as we now understand it from HPD, out of town (perhaps because of HGH/HPD rivalry or just the need for better equipment).
HPD Statement: “Lieutenant Blackheart was injured seriously, but both Mr. Ellis and Ms. Blackheart are expected to recover fully. They are currently being treated in New Orleans. “

Cycles of Violence
I’ve said enough on this topic to have my feelings widely known. What comes around goes around. The question is what happens after that. Does it spin again or is a line drawn that won’t be crossed again. Hathian should remember that there are always more things to lose and that the price, the price isn’t always clear until the smoke clears. This newspaper wishes Lt. Vanora a speedy recovery and hopes that Carter gets the help he needs to reform himself, because in Hathian, as this event seems to prove; if you don’t, sometimes ‘help’ comes at you hard, and fast and with a knife.
Stay safe Hathian.
