During the early morning hours on Thursday, Devils Pocket experienced a house fire that claimed the life of a former doctor and father in Hathian. Details poured in right before press time of the blaze that the Fire Department of Hathian could only rule as an electrical fire. The house belonged to that of Columtreal University professor and former Hathian General Hospital physician, James Matfield. The twenty-eight year old father was last heard from when he dropped his kids off at their grandmothers so that he could take care of some work he had to do at the local college. No one else was said to be involved in the fire, but authorities are still trying to narrow down the details of the accident. Officials noted that due to the location of the house, it was near impossible to get on scene in time to put out the blaze as it had nearly burned down by time they arrived. Neighbors haven’t been reached for comment as of press time. Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the once honored physician. No word yet on funeral arrangements.
