Reader, after the shocking events of the last 24 hours I can’t say I had much hope that those who had taken Officer Ellis would repent and release him for the small reward I could scrape together. But I wouldn’t have imagined that I’d receive what appears to be instead ‘proof of life’ to be ‘proof of death’ in response to our plea for calm. It appears that the City, or at least those in it with an appetite have fed and the result is bloody.
There remain some quite hazy and possibly challenging details so as with everything, a pinch of salt is required. The Observer has not seen the body (for example to put a mirror to it – as suggested on Twitter) and photos can be manipulated, never-the-less, the live-stream and the auction that went with it… did appear to inflict shocking injuries.

Guilty Plea
The following letter was received by the Observer on the 18th August 2024, it included a further note, explaining the context in which it was recieved;
“It has come to our attention that two of Hathian Against Corruption’s members have been publicly named and deemed Domestic Terrorists by The Hathian Police Department in yesterday’s article ‘Missing: HPD Officer Carter Ellis‘. HAC condemns the release of these names and their given titles, and finds it apt timing seeing how the aforementioned Corporal, Ellis, has since released a statement:”
This letter was then supplied with a number of images, one of which we have led with, but the others are included below. We continue to blur ((IC)) out the worst of the injuries ((OOC great photo!)). Images can be clicked to expand on our web version.
These images, which include what appears to a death certificate, appear though to create some confusion. While our experts consulted appear to believe the injuries are realistic and potentially a threat to life, thus providing credence to the photo, it seems reasonably clear that the Death Certificate is trolling. ‘Occupation: Philanderer’ or that cause of death included as an underlying cause ‘Low Testosterone‘.
“The first cause of death is Blunt Force Trauma to the head. Curiously wounds indicate an object that fits the shape of a phallus-shaped sex toy, but made of organic matter. The second cause of death was Eye Enucleation. The body was presented in terrible shape, both due to the wounds inflicted and the man’s physical health. A final reading stated that his testosterone levels were surprisingly low for the average male of his age.” – From notes provided with death certificate
With a certificate such as this which as far as we’re aware HGH did not issue and when approached HPD (besides from being angry) suggested it was far too soon for one to be issued, we must then turn to the question: ‘where is the body?’ and on that note there was an explainer.
Helpfully included in the bundle received was this packing slip that seemed to have been photocopied from the original:
“To the benefactor who outbid cannibals, murderer and Carter’s rabid fan base. We are sorry you bid unaware of his passing at the time of purchase, but due to our ‘no takesies-backsies’ policy the cadaver is as such now on transport to you. Because of the confidential nature of such a transaction, we do not provide a return shipping address. Sorry.” – A note apparently included with Carter’s body to the winning bidder.
We might suggest this looks rather suspicious, but at the same time… the risk of death looks real and would HAC really release a body, it would expose them… So Reader, do hold your view of this, but I think there has to be question marks over this ‘death’ for now…
HPD – ‘It’s Not Over Until It’s Over’
As to be expected, when approached with this potential devastating news there was anger, suspicion and not an immediate obvious soul-searching into how to prevent this devastating cycle escalate.
Approaching a senior within the department, we were rebuffed with the simple comment (for now at least):
Hathian PD: “No comment on this ‘alleged’ death.”
Possibly, a rather uncouth officer might have also said ‘Fuck off Tang’ at the same time, but I barely heard him amongst having better things to do.
I would have liked to have time to warn the PD that as well as obvious comments on the Dark Web about the auction and Carter, it appeared that potentially another of their own was ‘next in line’….
It appears that out of the list of officers, Ellis, Bolo, Baez, Ziau that had been in the firing line that many have now disappeared in one way or another. A contact texted us the following:
Text received during research to this article: “Everyone knows who killed the cop who also raped in the isolation cells, Baez. Bolo was killed by Dale. Ziau ran like a little bitch. Carter was killed and tortured for his Isolation shit. Hathian has taken it into their own hands to get rid of these cops. The sooner Naka is gone, the better…”
The sender of the message is not as we are aware linked to HAC, but seems to be part of this wider movement to deal with the ‘worst’ of the HPD.
A Further Letter is Received
During our work to prepare this article an e-mail came into our office…
What should the Observer say? What should I say? An officer appears dead, (another in a long line) and further officer is now the next target.
I have spoken about the Ouroboros, the never-ending consumption and I have warned that despite consuming the Hathian PD (if such a thing is possible) the snake would continue to grow as it consumed. There are others, there always are in this dark city.
Yes, I condemn all proven police abuses and the destruction of civic justice at the hands of those charged to serve and protect, yet I must also condemn those who take matters into their own deadly hands. Collateral damage is increasing and while a manifesto for change and for a ‘just’ town is idyllic… I fear that those who should deliver something like that do not have the power to do so and those that do have the power, do so as false idols of our desire for peace. Meanwhile, in the background Mayor Boxer laughs and parties and the town revolves around the shit…
So, for the record… personally, I condemn any faction or organisation that promotes terror to achieve aims. But I also know that a cycle doesn’t start with one thing, it grows by being fed and if I was in the Hathian PD, I know I’d be risking more every day just because of a uniform, even if I was trying to change it. It’s easy to say ‘don’t be part of the HPD’ from the outside, but not everyone can survive as a civilian and many will not become part of the gangs that are also the problem. Have we forgotten Tori’s cruel games, or the Reject’s laughter at Tori’s rape, or the Bones and their ‘flower man’… The squeezed middle ground should have a manifesto similar to HAC…
It’s just that… speaking as one of that group… blood and murder should not be done in my name, however sympathetic I am to the need for reform… But… I understand.
