Mist gathered heavily over the water surrounding the large imposing boat, casting glowing lights and an inviting visage. It was imposing, mysterious, and alive.
We were welcomed by Willow, a staff member at the casino who was busy assisting the organization of a “Summer Bash” event that day.
She told me a little about the history of the boat, which was built in 1920s during the prohibition era. To skate the alcohol ban they evaded law enforcement and constantly moved locations, which is the advantage of having an illegal drinking den on a moving vessel.
Ghosts still haunt the boat…
Lady Luck’s history is long. The ship changed its face a few times until it was decommissioned for being unsafe.
In 2020, new leadership took over, renovating it and opening its glamorous doors for the public. Hell Cortez, the manager of the casino, is a proud and a passionate person. Under her competent management, the casinos doors are open 24/7, with monthly events.
” The Lady Luck has something for everyone, slots, roulette, all the things a gambling heart could want. She’s a beautiful old boat, but she knows how to party!” – Hell Cortez
The roaring party of Laveau
Hell’s enthusiasm is infectious, and she is determined to give everyone a good time as she reminds potential customers that booze is served on the boat from 6 am to 3 am. Catering to every taste and inclination.
The casino has a Twitter account which you can follow to see their events and other promotions being posted regularly.
