The tip landed the way the best ones do: casual, almost cheerful, like it was gossip about a new club opening and not a human being. A message. A few photos. Grisly photos though. Oh. Torture… and that was when I knew I had another potential murder or something on my desk.
A few more clicks and the the ugly shape of it started to form. An HPD officer reportedly taken, worked over for hours, and dumped like trash just long enough for someone to find her. A Warning? We’ve seen plenty of those before and I’ve covered enough myself. “Don’t fuck with us,” someone is saying, “Next time could be worse…”
Sources close to the situation describe a routine HPD patrol turning into an ambush near the movie theatre. Cigarette burns and knife work followed. There was, (medically annotated photos make lovely bedtime reading) a knee left dislocated like an afterthought. The details are graphic enough that I’m choosing my words carefully, not to soften the violence, but because despite Stanley wanting ‘edge’, I’m not here to get some of you sickos in Hathian off on what I print. The point, to get to it, is the message such a thing sends: “We can reach you anywhere, even if you wear a badge.”
Do We Have A Who?
Now for the part Hathian always wants to skip straight to: who dunnit Daiyu? Which of the countless bands of ne’er-do-well individuals or groups in Hathian was behind it? I got you my dears.
Witnesses reportedly saw Haven members dumping the officer from a van with the HPD knowing who is who in that group, a fact I myself am not that familiar with. Some groups are loud and brash (hello Hoppers) and some operate like smoke. The Haven, at least to this paper have not been featured heavily!
HPD will, inevitably, ask the public for patience while it ‘investigates.‘ The Haven will, inevitably, say nothing at all, not that I don’t have a clue of who to ask (and where) but because silence is part of the performance I am sure they practice.
So, my take away? Solo Cop Patrols? Not the best idea if you’ve done something to upset the Haven (or any other group). Strength together right?
