Settled close to the seashore, Slim Goodies gives the vibes of comfort and an era gone by. Just don’t order anything that isn’t on the menu.
Vibe – 8/10
I am not sure there is anything truly clean about Hathian. The streets and buildings would suggest the town has never seen anything clean, even if it is new. I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into Slim Goodies to find a lack of roaches and rats.
The decor is classic 1950’s with a simple menu to match. You will find all of the classics of a 50’s soda shop. The only thing detracting from the atmosphere was a neighboring table with a date gone wrong. I won’t count that against the establishment, however.
Taste – 8/10
I ordered a strawberry milkshake, patty melt, and fries. Everything was cooked fresh to order and served immediately. The patty melt was on point with sauce and toppings. Fries were crisp but not over done. The milkshake was perfect. Not too thick, but not runny.
My companion ordered onion rings. While made with real onion, the grease factor (too much) detracted from the coating being truly crispy.
Service – 7/10
Service was average. I was disappointed the wait staff didn’t come to check to see if I liked the food or needed anything in addition. That might have been due to them having to clean up a tossed milkshake at the afore mentioned table.
Menu – 7/10
Hand made milkshakes, slender fries, burgers, and more. All made to order and fresh.
Final Verdict: 7.5/10
Slim Goodies is a welcome staple of nostalgia and comfort served up in fresh made to order classic American foods.
