Pressing Ahead

By: Daiyu Tang

Reader, this is not the full article that I wanted to share with you, however due to not being able to visit my office at the moment and with my Observer laptop smashed, I’ve had to write it on my phone from my hospital bed and cannot finish the fuller item, although rest assured, it will make a scintillating addendum in due course.

For the last month or more I have been investigating the apparent infiltration of the Hathian Police Department by a mole. Not the little blind kind, but the large, hulking man kind.

Officers may from time to time work with, or turn a blind eye towards gangs. The Observer has covered a fair share of these practices and helped to expose everything from notorious sex dungeons by officers to corrupt parking practices. There’s a real range of issues that can be exposed if someone has the mind, time and resources to do so.

Never-the-less while some may tolerate low level corruption as a way to survive in this city, most would draw the line on being in bed with Gang leaders, such that any form of integrity is likely compromised. Gang leader wants you to protect her members when they’re in prison and tells you to attack or molest others instead? Sure. Gang leader wants a member given special treatment or avoid an arrest? Sure, that’s probably likely. Police Officer wants someone murdered or otherwise disappeared? Why not – it’s on the menu.

And dear reader, I fight for you and for Hathian to try and get the truth out there and if needed prevent those with vested interests in stopping that from winning. Usually, I admit, not physically, but who doesn’t fight for what they believe in?

Fighting so you can still read the truth!

We Say ‘No’

I think most would suggest that it would be appropriate to say that’s not alright. If you’re HPD leadership, you probably don’t want to worry that next time there’s a fight with a gang that your fellow officer might just ‘miss’ on purpose, or worse…

If you’re an ordinary civilian, you’re more at risk! In jail when this gang are? Don’t worry all the focus of anything bad will be on you now. Get robbed or worse by them? Don’t worry, they’ll make bail easily.

Unacceptable right? Who benefits the most? The gang. They must work really hard to cultivate these kind of links and must really not want these links exposed.

Especially when it’s a senior officer right?

Everyone Wants Proof

I always find it funny in Hathian. When an accusation is made by this newspaper, it is forensically examined for any possible flaw, alternative explanation or bias on the part of myself or my staff. Yet when a false arrest happens, or when a cop is injured without cause these events are celebrated.

Wake up sheeple! We’re here to tell you whatever we can that we believe is the truth. You can make your own mind up of course, and I do expect to be held to a high standard… but as you know in this city, it’s more than fifty shades of grey. It’s hundreds.

But What Would Be Worse?

Hey, so going back to the point about how bad it would be (for HPD) to have a senior officer on the take in a big way… wouldn’t it be even worse if the gang they were on the take from and the individual leading it were like… public cop enemy number one? Wouldn’t it feel like a real betrayal when your other senior officers have this to say about the gang leader based on how often they have hurt your colleagues and fucked the city up?

Officer 1: “…Nailing that crate shut I’m gonna stuff ya in and ship ya off to chop stick land. For good! After I insert my boot up ya arse and make ya tongue spit shine it!”

Of course, the Observer does not condone threats, however when made in the heat of the moment they indicate the deep loathing that this gang leader attracts.

Not loathed enough to prevent this senior officer getting into bed with them right?

Aubin & Tori Sitting in a Tree – K I L L I N G…

I’m finding it hard to finish this, being that I am in HGH and more than just my head hurts. But I’ll leave you with this lovely little conversation, a snippet of what we have.

As to why I’m a bit beaten up? They say that the pen is mightier than the sword and normally I would agree. I am a journalist after all! But I’m going to have to disagree in this particular case… you should see the other bitch if you think I look bad. Karma. Trying to prevent these disclosures? 嘘つきや詐欺師には名誉はない!

Click to enlarge my dears because there’s a lot of issues to unpack in the below and the Observer will be following up all of them.
