On the 5th October 2024, the Laveau Stillwaters Asylum, the Hathian Museum & Galleries and Volkoff Studios put on a show for those brave enough to descend into the unknown and experience an immersive first person horror experience.
This 18+ event was designed by the creative geniuses behind Volkoff Studios who are famed for some of their travelling horror events in the State. The Observer and some of us in Hathian have experienced previous events but as always, nothing can prepare you for actually being part of the experience.
Join us as we cover a little of the event and whet your appetite perhaps for a repeat during this spooky month.

Unsuspecting Victims ‘Guests’ were ushered into the building where they could then explore the nooks and crannies of perfectly recreated tunnels. These tunnels, leading to different scenes, some with references to recent popular horror franchises (or classics!) were populated with a gruesome away of costumed spirits, entities and dangerous folk.
And it was the cast that was probably the star of the show, being that throughout the opening event they ran, screamed, lurched, crawled and swung (axes, bats, knives and more) after gusts who were left reeling, confused and disorientated through clever lights, fog and of course being chased by any of the actors!
The Haunt Cast
While not all the actors and actresses were named in the production credits, perhaps reader you might recognise one or two of them from their pictures below. Click on the image to open it full size!

Next Steps
The Haunt remains open until at least the end of October and taxis can take you there ((HERE)). We also understand that the production company is looking to host a rave or another full on event one more time before the closure of ‘spooky season’. Watch your social media and if you have the stomach and heart, sign-up… you can only descend so far, before you have to return to the surface… right?
Even those guests who came prepared in their own costumes were in for perhaps more than they bargained for, because while some of the ghosts were more tame than others, the butcher and those deeper into the maze, certainly had their taste for screams well developed.
