STATEMENT FROM LAVEAU SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT

We would just like to keep you appraised of an incident near Laveau Airfield.

In the early hours of the the 20th May 2024 we received word that a Helicopter was seen near the Airfield at Laveau, making a low approach as if to land. Shortly after this time, there were the sounds of multiple explosions.

On our arrival at the scene, we found what looked to be a military style transport helicopter, judging by the size of the burned out wreckage. We also regret to inform you at this time that we know of multiple casualties. How many, we are not sure. Aviation fuel burns incredibly hot and we are unsure if we will find all of the remains from those inside the vehicle.

We would also like to advise the public not to approach at this time. A couple of officers, myself included, reported a burning sensation around the eyes and in the back of the throat and there is a very strange smell in the area. It is possible that there was cargo on the transport was toxic to some degree. Please stay away from the area. Let the LSD and the Haz Chem teams do our jobs and let the coroners’ office manage the bodies with dignity.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

The Observer’s local Laveau correspondent reported the same burning sensation when near the wreckage and confirmed that some bodies were visible in the pictures. The number of actual casualties, their age, gender or nationality, in our view, would be hard to determine. Good luck to the LSD in their investigation.

((Note that the actual helicopter that crashed was larger than this one – but the players did not have OOCLY a destroyed version, this smaller one was used))
