On August 2nd, Professor Koda Slade held a ‘Smart Phone Photography 101’ class at Columtreal University. Eight students attended.
Students were taught important techniques to take better photos with their smartphone cameras. The focus was how to use features of the phone’s camera app, primarily the grid and rule of thirds, to properly frame a subject.Professor Slade also demonstrated how to use negative space. He further explored how different perspectives can change the story and add interest to any photo.
After class, students were encouraged to take photos around campus using the techniques. Expect to see more interesting photos on Instagram and Twitter soon, as these students post photos using these techniques.
Due to popular demand from students who were unable to attend, this course will be offered again soon. Check the Columtreal University website course calendar for more information when announced.
