For many years, Russia’s primary export to the City of Hathian has been low-grade vodka. But recently, it seems the country has also been exporting some of its most vicious criminals, who have infiltrated the streets of Hathian en masse.
Starting a couple weeks ago, the city has endured a string of gruesome crimes, and each incident has been linked to Russian mobsters. According to information leaked by a source within the Hathian Police Department, the possible ringleader of this crime syndicate is known as “the Butcher.” (No apparent relation to the Slab Butcher Shop.)
Some of the crimes that have been committed to date include the following:
1) Campus Murder
A Columtreal University student named David Kenley was brutally murdered by none other than the Butcher himself, who unceremoniously crashed the victim’s house party a little over a week ago. With a thick Russian accent, the large intruder shouted about how Kenley owed money to the Russians. Moments later, he went berserk and attacked Kenley, leaving him in pool of his own blood with over 100 wounds to his head and torso.

2) Terrorized Sisters
Bunny Vanmoer, who attended Kenley’s house party, was talking to the police the following day when a group of masked Russians showed up and quickly overwhelmed HPD officers with a superior show of force. Vanmoer was abducted and later woke up in a tub next to her dead sister, Jennifer Summers.
Because Summers was Kenley’s ex-girlfriend, she was likely murdered in retaliation for his unpaid debts. Vanmoer herself was spared, however, and released from captivity after the Russian mobsters issued a series of bizarre warnings to her.
3) Lawyer Bashing
A group of darkly clad men with Russian accents abducted a Hathian lawyer and drove away in a tinted SUV. The lawyer was taken to an undisclosed location, where armed men threatened him with violence until he agreed to work for them.
Days later, four street thugs who serve the Butcher mercilessly beat the same lawyer in the middle of a public street, where he was left battered and bleeding. Some concerned citizens called for help, and he was eventually taken to Hathian General Hospital.

Clearly, there are many unanswered questions, and it is too early to grasp the magnitude of this Russian crime problem. But one thing is certain: These mobsters display a wanton disregard for human life that is appalling, even by Hathian standards. For the time being, all citizens should exercise extreme caution, especially around darkly clothed individuals with Russian accents.
