As a result of an incident at CU where damage was incurred to the main building in a concerted effort by Hathian criminal elements to ‘impose their will’ on the peaceful streets of Columtreal, it has been agreed by the Campus Administration that the Hathian Police Department (‘HPD’) will provide services to Columtreal until such time as the security situation stabilises. Administration was coy on the exact details but it appears that perhaps existing CUPD staff will be invited to join the HPD to ensure that standards and consistency of training and uniform are applied.
The Observer notes that the HPD are more ‘famed’ for their use of ‘unorthodox’ tactics in their pursuit of crime (or some might say – causation of crime) and thus their exposure to the weapons free (nearly) zone of Columtreal along with young and impressionable people might be quite a combustible mixture.
University Staff, including the President assure us that they have it in hand, but our inquiries with the president weren’t exactly reassuring that he understood the full nature of both the Hathian criminal threat and the HPD methods of operation.
“Terrorists! I went in to have a meeting in my office but I could not get through as there were chairs in the way and before I could ask what was going on they were set ablaze. I tried to stop it, as I disarmed one of the woman but the other took me down. I almost bit the big one till our fine fire department came to save me.”
President Morningstar
Not the most inspiring vote of confidence and the President didn’t want to specifically address the HPD itself. Still, as readers familiar with the Observer know, there’s plenty of content regarding our police force.
We understand though from Detective Inspector O’Neil that the officers assigned to CU will be selected for their understanding of campus concerns and their good judgement on the use of force. You’ll know if she got it right if Carter never appears here for example.
The Detective inspector told us:
“The concern regarding HPD’s reputation has been received and understood – While HPD normally operates in extremely hostile environment that is City of Hathian, the differences between Hathian and Columtreal have been recognized, and taken into account by HPD officers tasked to maintain law and order at Columtreal area. We are here to help.”
Detective Inspector K N M O’Neil
With regards to when CU will be open again? Apparently the building has damage so it’s not yet clear when classes can recommence inside our main building, but Coach Nara and others are hosting classes elsewhere on campus in the interim.
