Prank, Protest or Politics?

Mid-morning on October 12th one of the Hathian Police Department squad cars was set ablaze. The photos is from CCTV footage obtained by this reporter from local businesses.

It appears a sort of professional incendiary device was used on a squad car parked directly in front of the station. The display was worthy of an academy award for pyrotechnics, as the initial combustion turned near volcanic as the flames rose ever higher, even scaling the height of the station itself as one cop car become twisted metal and melted glass. Begging poetry, it appeared that the ground opened a maw and a dragon spewed forth crimson and mandarin flames that billowed metallic smelling black smoke that could be seen for miles in all directions.

It was reported that there were civilians nearby sporting festive costumes for the fall season, and actual Officers on premises, but no one was hurt. Except for maybe the feelings of the Officer that was assigned the squad car.

Two of the detectives assigned to the case were contacted for comment. When asked if they had information about the possible prank, they responded with extraordinarily strong language indicating that the HPD will be taking this alleged arson very seriously.

Detective Billie Beamen: Prank is a very mild way to put terrorism. We are currently putting together a list of suspects along with examining the remains of the explosive used on the vehicle.”

Detective Shelby Katz: “I would not call it a prank but more an assault, or even domestic terrorism. The car was destroyed by a homemade explosive device. I cannot tell you anything about the suspects at this point.”

Detective Beamen was then asked if any consideration had been made to this being an act of defiance against the department over the countless allegation of police department brutality, and even sexual abuse of inmates.  To which Beaman replied, “Considering it was done within range of a civilian, anyone attempting to make a statement at the expense of civilians are terrorists, nothing more. Protests, community outreach, social awareness are ways a citizen should voice concerns.”  This reporter was not surprised by the response, as the Hathian Police Department is always quick to gloss over the infernal flames of their own department.

When Detective Katz was asked a similar question, her answer was even more vague. “That is hard to say and would be just me guessing at this point of the investigation.”  This reporter again, was not surprised at the complete lack of any fore thoughted culpability. Both detectives indicated there was indeed an ongoing investigation, and that there are suspects being considered. The Hathian Police Department asks that anyone with information or tips about this alleged crime please contact Detective Shelby Katz, Detective Billie Beamen or Sergeant Ritter.

Fire Department Chief Dale Warrhol, could not be reached for comment before publication of this article. However, the CCTV footage tells the tale. One large fire engine was dispatched and with considerable effort, the FDH did control the explosive flames. The fire was contained so that it did not damage any other nearby people or property and ultimately was put out entirely.

It is unknown whether this blaze was a prank or protest, but no doubt the usual Hathian Police Department political fire engine will be setting blazes of its own in retaliation.
