Buffy And The Slayers Launch Debut Album

“We Live and Die in Hathian” a spunky and feisty pop-punk tribute to our town

On 4th April at Sinners nightclub in Hathian, the college band that have been making a name for themselves over the last year launched their first album “We Live and Die in Hathian” to a small but enthusiastic crowd.

A Snapshot of Hathian Life

With songs that depict life in Hathian, Port Laveau, and Columtreal where the band are currently based, songs such as Hathian Dreamin’, the Boys and Girls of the HPD and 4×4 Free Apartment in Laveau carry a resonance with audiences wherever they play in the area.

“Just Another Fucking Fuck Boy”

One of the bands fan favourites, ‘F-Boy’, a homage to lead singer Sarah-Michelle Buffy Gage’s ex boyfriend Keyate Marshall, with its brutal, cutting lyrics such as “I said I forgive you, And you swore you’d never hurt me like that again, I believed you, because I believed in you… Then you fucked her and fucked me over again” show hurt, anger and female rage that one might not expect from the pint-sized perky blonde cheerleader who fronts the band. Their relationship was widely documented in their freshman year by the Observer’s own CU Gossip Girl.

The Slayers

The bands rhythm section, pounding bass by band leader and album producer Bobby Ray Lee and Connor Kharg providing the thunder of the drums, as well as the impressive lead guitar by Jo Doulton carry the Slayers songs such as 50 Guns at Sundown, a tale of gang warfare that name checks most of the gangs in the parishes and Port Laveau , as the soundtrack to our lives here in this town. Each member is coming into their own as a musician and as a unit, after a year of playing together the band sound tight.

The band recently completed a tour called ‘Taking Care of Business’, which saw them draw lively crowds at most of their shows, and was bigger in scale than the previous years ‘Dive Bar Tour’.

A New Album on the Way?

Rumour has it the band are already working on the follow up record with their own independent label Slaytone records and have more shows planned for the summer.

We Live and Die in Hathian is available now at Rader Records and on streaming services. Band merchandise is also available by contacting Shilo Casen at Murphy’s Irish Pub.
