Press Release from Signa Theta Noir Sorority President Estéfaníe Babineaux
Upon arriving at Columtreal University, my twin and I learned of strong circulating rumours implicating a certain college professor and his proclivity for undressing young female students. At first, the rumour was dismissed as just that; false gossip – likely started by competing girls with crushes on the professor. However what unfolded in a pre-hurricane preparation class is now part of a criminal investigation and has planted more seeds doubt about the professors’ ability to interact with young female students in acceptable and respectful ways.
Earlier this week, a mail from Columtreal University Dean, made its way into student body mailboxes.
Dear Student Body,
It saddens me that I need to compose this email, but I do. Our professors work tirelessly to create lesson plans for you that are interesting and engaging and disrespect will NOT be tolerated. If you were in attendance at Professor Toran’s latest class please reply to this email and give me your account.
I would like to set up a meeting with both Estefanie Babineaux AND her friend whose name I do not have ASAP.
Again. Disrespect in my school will NOT BE TOLERATED.
CU Dean
Mark.
While my Twin and I acknowledge and apologize for our part in creating a disruptive element during class based on sibling rivalry, it is not only Professor Yaden Torans conflict resolution skills, or lack there of we call into question, but also his pattern of sexual misconduct at CU.
While Professor Yaden Toran ordered us to leave the classroom following this disruption, he also made sexual threats such as:
“If you don’t leave now, I will put you both on your knees in the corner like we used to do in the past”
Prof. Yaden Toran
In addition to his threat, which has clear sexual undertones, specifically about forced oral sex, Prof. Yaden Toran proceeded to make derogatory statements about one our backsides.
We can not attest what sort of school this used to be in the past, but does this sound pleasant? No, certainly not, but we’re sure they had plans for Harvey Weinstein making a film about it, starring Kevin Spacey in the role of Dean of CU!
One would think the harassment of Prof. Yaden Toran ended here and this didn’t need to go any further than this, bur no, you would be wrong in such an assumption as his onslaught against young student innocence certainly does not end here!
No, Prof. Yaden Toran was indeed not done in his attempt at subduing any critique of sexual misconduct on his own behalf. We understand that he may wish to take further action, legal action or otherwise involving law enforcement! It seems what lots of people do – involve the biggest predators to support the smaller predators!
Defending Misconduct!
It is pretty clear that Professor Yaden Toran, the CU Dean and surely other avenues of the patriarchy are all in cahoots backing each other up when it comes to misconduct around exploiting young women. For example, just earlier this year, HPD found itself at the ends of a protest based on this very issue!
The patriarchy protecting its own is what is to be expected, but that does not mean we will bow down to blatant disrespect and accept those in power siding together, against us! And for what? Disrupting a class?
Prof. Yaden Toran has watched one too many Gestapo movies, and we can only begin to imagine what other sorts of disproportionate punishments will be administered by Columtreal University officials! Public flogging by the belltower for turning in library books too late? Or how about a week in the pillory for disagreement with a professor?
At Sigma Theta Noir, we demand that Prof. Yaden Toran be forced to take conflict resolution classes to subdue his anger management issues as well as writing an essay on why its bad to sexually harass young women on campus.

The Editor of the Hathian Observer, wishes to make it clear that this article is part of the prerogative afforded to the Fraternities and Sororities; the release of information (even if controversial) into the CU supplement that is distributed with our paper. We would expect (and have encouraged) Professor Yaden to submit a response which we are pleased to be able to carry below. Readers, even of the CU section, and perhaps especially students can thus weigh two competing narratives and decide what they believe. Everyone gets a platform with the Observer. Nearly.
Professor Yaden Writes:
As many, I have read the ridiculous press release from a certain sorority of Columtreal University, where I serve as professor.
My personal dignity and professional stand do not allow me to lower myself to the level of these accusations.
Both the University and the HPD have been provided with documented evidence of the facts as they are, not fantasies of the deluded minds of the students who have brought forward these vile accusations.
It is not a coincidence that both Institutions have aligned to support me.
I have a habit to video record all of my lectures and this is something I am willing to make public to anyone interested in viewing exactly what has happened.
I have sympathy for the parents of these ill-advised students, and while I intend to prosecute the matter to the full extent of the law, I also intend to apply for a protection order to be issued against the individuals in question.
I am very respectful of the law and other human beings, especially women. I would never touch a student or, as a doctor, a patient, in a sexual, ill manner.
All I have is my reputation, and my word and what these students have done is hurting both, and will not be left without a legal response.

Director of Laveau Medical Clinic
Professor of Science at Columtreal University
