Aleida Ramirez, mother of Jesus Ramirez-Warrhol, died as the result of a tragic accident on Sept. 6, 2021, at Hathian General Hospital. Sam Warrhol-Kelly, the woman’s son-in-law, was initially charged with murder. However, he was released, and all charges were dropped, once police reviewed video footage of the incident.
Warrhol-Kelly and Ramirez-Warrhol were married on July 25, 2021, in spite of the fact that the latter’s mother did not like the former. Said Warrhol-Kelly, “We never got along that great, because…well….her and Cat, they a lot alike. But things were changing. I was trying extra hard to get along with her and things were going ok.” Things changed when Ramirez-Warrhol got hurt.
On Sept. 5, Ramirez-Warrhol was found badly beaten on Batterie Beach. He required emergency surgery as a lifesaving measure. In addition, his face was all busted up. Unfortunately, the victim does not remember most of what happened, and a 9-1-1 caller who reported the incident did so anonymously. The attacker(s) said a homosexual slur to Ramirez-Warrhol during the assault, so this might have been a hate crime.
Warrhol-Kelly and his mother-in-law were visiting Ramirez-Warrhol after his surgery. Ramirez had obviously been drinking, as Warrhol-Kelly could smell it on her. He stated, “She came in all gangbusters and accusing me and the Koga of hurting Jes.” Then the woman put her hands around Warrhol-Kelly’s throat. surprising him with the strength of her grip. He put his hands up in front of himself and pushed her off of him. Ramirez fell back and hit her head on the metal frame of the next bed. When Warrhol-Kelly went to check on her, it was obvious that she was dead. A viewing of the video footage confirms this accounting of events.
Ramirez’s alcohol consumption was a likely to be a large factor in her death. Dr. Regina Krel, of the Neuroscience Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center, explained, “Alcohol is a depressant to our bodies. Some of the visible symptoms you are used to seeing in someone who’s drunk – slurred speech, loss of coordination, falling, loss of inhibition, passing out – all of these side effects are a result of our brain cells communicating at a slower rate.” However, according to police records, investigators with the Hathian Police Department did not request or collect any lab work from the deceased.
Asked if he had anything else to add, Warrhol-Kelly said, “I’m so sorry. I wish to God it had never happened, I wish I could take it all back. She didn’t deserve it and her family don’t deserve having to go through that.”
Anyone with information about the attack on Ramirez-Warrhol is encouraged to report that to the Hathian Police Department.
