State of Emergency Declared

Louisiana’s Governor has placed the St. Bernard Parish under a State of Emergency. After water samples were tested, the bacteria known as Legionella was found. ‘The genus Legionella is a pathogenic group of Gram-negative bacteria that includes the species L. pneumophila, causing legionellosis including a pneumonia-type illness called Legionnaires’ disease and a mild flu-like illness called Pontiac fever.’ (Source: Wiki)

This applies for all citizens within the St. Bernard Parish. Drinking and bathing in the water can cause one to fall ill. If you have consumed tap water within the last week and have the following symptoms, please seek medical help at Hathian General:

• Headache
• Muscle pain
• Chest pain
• Chills
• High fever
• Cough
• Blood in mucus
• Shortness of breath
• Nausea/vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Confusion/mental changes
