Parking Garage Fire Leaves No Victims

The Hathian Fire Department responded to a call at the parking garage near the Grind this afternoon to find the lot engulfed in flames. The parking lot is home to abandoned vehicles, garbage, and provides a roof over the head to some of the city’s homeless residents.

As the crew put out the flames, their main hope was that they wouldn’t find anyone inside. The flames receded and the crew left the bulding with little damage done to themselves. Even better still, no bodies were found in the garage or the abandoned van that was found. The fire was likely caused by a cigarette butt dropped in some trash, but either way there was no cause for concern that the fire was set intentionally.

In a city where bad news seems prevalent, this reporter felt it due to report that in this case, no news is good news.
