Saturday was supposed to be a day of fun for people at Columtreal University, thanks to a student hosted party at the campus dorms, but festivities were cut short by a sudden medical emergency.

An unidentified man who was attending the party reportedly collapsed in the plaza after suffering from what friends and family are saying were “extreme headaches”.

After the scene gathered a large crowd of onlookers, paramedics arrived to transport the man to the hospital. They discovered that his ear was bleeding, which lead first responders to believe that there was internal bleeding, possibly caused by a brain aneurysm.

Brain aneurysms are weakened blood vessels in the brain that start to expand like balloons. More often than not, they pop, or rupture, and lead to internal hemorrhaging, which can be fatal. Signs of a rupture can include nausea, drowsiness, and headaches.

Even with a 60% mortality rate, the man survived after having brain surgery, and is now in hospital with family and friends. His long term prognosis is unknown at this point, but doctors remain positive.
