HATHIAN – Fear has struck the small coastal town of Hathian, Louisiana, after a strong monsoon-like storm struck the town Sunday afternoon. Winds picked up after an overcast morning, bringing rain, lightning, and thunder, the roads swiftly flooding while residents fled to higher ground. The surrounding communities of Vodou, Devils Pocket, Black Bottom, District 8, and Fishtown are suspected to be affected, as well.

It is not known at the time the severity of injuries or damages to buildings and businesses, but the HPD is advising residents to be cautious when entering buildings & homes, monitoring all weather reports, and keeping out of possibly tainted areas where flooding is still rampant.

Will FEMA step up to the plate? Time will tell. Stay tuned to your Hathian Observer.
