Most people wait until Memorial Day to remember those who have fought and died for our country.  It’s just a passing consideration, usually, and only because they get the day off work.  However, most don’t think twice about those who have fought for our country and lived.

That changed today, as the effort to help Hathian’s military veterans has had quite a kick-start.  Hathian’s city councilwomen, Aizlynne Argeneau, Cat Mason, and Heather Ray met with Colt Carson of CK Motors to vote on a proposal for a Veteran’s Food Bank.  In a majority vote, the council has agreed to sign over an abandoned building in the Bourbon street area to house a permanent location for the previously mobile project.

“Since my return from Afghanistan, it has bothered me to see the way our veterans and our poor struggle in a country that should have a higher standard of living. Especially painful is watching the suffering of those who have given everything in service of their country.”

Supported by various businesses within the community already, Hathians’s Veteran Food Bank will now be able to accept larger donations thanks to the additional space.  Currently, the venture is supported by CK Motors, Carson’s own machine shop and taxi service, Lou’s Bar, the Hathian Police Department, and the Orcus Samedi Motorcycle Club.

“We would like to thank CK Motors and Lou’s Bar as well as the people of Hathian for their strong support. We had hoped for a unanimous decision from our city representatives and were saddened that Miss Lemione did not choose to support a cause she so publicly espouses.”

Saturday, July 29th, the Motorcycle Club is hosting a fund-raiser event, asking for cash donations or canned goods to enter for a chance to win a truck or SUV!  This event will supply the new Hathian Veteran’s Food Bank with supplies for when it’s slated to open:  the date is still To Be Announced.

Other businesses looking to support this initiative or individuals interested in volunteering to work with the Food Bank are asked to contact the Hathian Veterans Food Bank at 888–555–6307. ((IM Colt ‘Coyote’ Carson (athertonwing) ))
