Louisiana citizens in both Baton Rouge and Hathian can have some financial ease of mind this holiday season as the consumer and business spending in both cities rose by 5.6% per Louisiana Revenue Department and both parishes Financial Departments. This trend has continued a nearly nine month streak of sales activity which appeared to continue with forward momentum.

Sales tax collection figures released on Friday by both city parishes and LA Revenue Department showed that businesses and consumers spent $900.5 million in both October-November; that compares to $666.9 million in spending in November 2013.

Some of the recent economic boom were affected by the recent redevelopment of the Mall of Louisiana and land development from individuals from other states, such as New York.

Vehicles are not included in the total spending income increase and sales are up from the previous year at around 12.6%. City and State Economists report that this trend should continue throughout the second quarter fiscal year of 2015.
